Valley Gold / Club Membership update

Dear Valley Gold Subscriber,

 

As you may be aware, the club have been considering the introduction of a new membership scheme and reviewing the benefits available to Valley Gold subscribers ahead of the 2026/27 season.

 

The club have informed us that a new membership scheme will not be introduced for the 2026/27 season, as further consultation with supporters is required to ensure that any future scheme best meets the needs of the fanbase. With that review now complete, we'd like to update you on a number of Valley Gold subscriber benefits that were awaiting confirmation.

 

10% discount on club merchandise

Valley Gold subscribers will continue to receive a 10% discount on club merchandise, both in the Valley Superstore and through the club's new retail website. While it took a little longer than expected to implement the discount on the new website, it is now fully operational and ready to use. Click here to visit the new retail website now. 

 

£15 rebate for men's season ticket holders

Valley Gold subscribers who hold a 2026/27 men's first-team season ticket are entitled to a £15 rebate. This can be claimed as CAFC Cash to spend on future ticket purchases, such as additional match tickets or future cup matches, or donated back to the club

Away ticket priority

Valley Gold subscribers will continue to benefit from away ticket priority throughout the 2026/27 season, operating in the same way as in previous campaigns.

As part of the club's consultation process, feedback was received regarding the fairness of Valley Gold access to away ticket priority. Following those discussions, the club recognised that any changes to this benefit should be introduced with sufficient notice, allowing supporters time to build up loyalty points where required.

With that in mind, the club has agreed to retain away ticket priority for Valley Gold subscribers during the 2026/27 season.

    The club had planned to introduce a new membership scheme this summer, but that launch has been postponed until next summer to allow for further supporter consultation.

    As part of that consultation process, feedback was received regarding the fairness of Valley Gold's access to away ticket priority. The club will continue to engage with supporters on this matter as discussions around the future membership scheme progress.

    Taken them 4 days before it all kicks off to realise they can’t introduce an entirely new membership scheme. At least they’re consulting fans though. Can’t wait to splash my CAFC cash

    When you do please can you explain how to do so IF you already have a season ticket , or am I missing something?

    I wondered the same, but clicking around my ticket account it’s not yet been loaded it would seem

    Under my account (I am a valley gold member) the CAFC cash value = 0.00 and there is no info on the most likely outcome for valley gold members,  use the cash for a future ticket purchase.  

    Is it really that hard to line up comms and administration of the system.  If coming later, just say it in the comms rather than waste our time clicking around trying to work out if we have it for not.

    SO many times the communication from our club is sadly lacking in detail, resulting in queries for the relevant dept to deal with and ongoing displeasure & frustration from the paying "customers".

    It doesn't improve season after season despite ALL those "fan groups" in existence & their input. 

    Clearly a good job was done where the lauded membership scheme was concerned  ;)

    Good news.

    I suspect the annoucement now is because:

    1. The season is about to start and there needs to be a system in place.

    2. The uncertainty was hitting VG numbers so losing income.

    3. There is a Meet the Directors Q&A session on 13th so this avoids akward questions on this topic

    4. The new membership was so badly thought out that is was unworkable.

    Why could they not send the £15  to the card I paid with, whichever way you look at it the club keeps the money,

    this is the reply from email I sent asking the following 
    How do I claim the £15 rebate on my season ticket will it just be added to my Cafc cash account 
    also if like last time Cafc cash was used you could only use it to purchase home tickets

    I presumed that wpuld be the case and cancelled over the summer. Means I missed out on WH and probably spurs 😆, my own fault though so can really complain... although they could have announced this a month or so ago, very much doubt its a decision that they have just made.

    Whoch means its not going to be a perk for the following season.

    It means they still haven't worked out what they're doing with the club membership. It may not go ahead at all. However:

    'Sufficient notice' would need to allow supporters to attend enough away games so, if the membership does go ahead, they should be announcing something by January.

    Without creating too many phases when it comes to selling away tickets, I think VG should just bump you up to the next phase.

    I'm assuming the club's motive is bring in more cash, masquerading as creating a fairer system.

    Cash for higher ticket priority - guaranteed cash earner, they know that

    Away members club - dressed up version of the above, people will pay

    Loyalty points for peripheral purchases - 20 points for buying a replica; 20 points for buying CharltonTV; 20 points for buying Valley Gold etc - I could see this being considered

    Anyone on here seen what the proposed new membership tiers looked like?

    A late announcement but I'm glad more time is being taken to come up with something decent for the club and the existing/future members.
    It sure won't be easy to bring along all the different populations and the different points of view.

    Ultimately I suspect they’ve realised that if they tinker too much with VG it’ll spell the end.

    For me , for them to even mention 2026/27 season , probably means that the season after , thing will change or perhaps that’s just my paranoia? 
    The chances are I won’t be around for the following season anyway.
