Brooks isn’t going anywhere. Every club needs a senior ish 3rd keeper as it has been explained numerous times already

A friend of mine was at the Preston training ground this morning.

He confirmed to me the two clubs agreed a fee but TC refused to move up north, which is good news for now but suggests negotiations on a contract extension have not gone well and the club have no option but to cash in
IF THIS IS TRUE…then if he does not want to be here then get rid of him.  I’ve always liked TC however if he doesn’t want to continue his journey with Charlton cash in, as soon as a player doesn’t want to sign an extension then unfortunately their heads are turned.  I hope it’s not true and your friend hasn’t confirmed anything with their recruitment team, groundsman, canteen staff, kitman, ballboys.

And he should not be included in the squad on Saturday ..
Fuck me ! After two ridiculous comments regarding Tyreece's freedom of contract, I thought it couldn't get worse but No! 'Silly Bollocks' out does them all !
    Absolutely.

Campbell must be dropped but Jones, who also hasn't signed a new deal, can start and even be captain.

    Talk about a double standard.
Jones has regularly and consistently been one of our best performers throughout all the years that he’s been here, in one of the most vital positions for us. No complaints, played through injuries on more than one occasion etc.
TC on the other hand although sometimes a threat, has not come close to putting up the kinds of numbers to justify it and his end product at times is painful.
We’ve signed Grant now who in my opinion is a far better player to have on the left side, if we were able to cash in on TC and get around the rumoured £2-£3m then I think that’s a great deal for us, especially if he thinks he can do better than us and we’d hopefully be able to put that towards a JRS type player who imo is far better than TC.
That said I’m not quite sure who he expects to come in for him with the kinds of numbers he’s put up for us, even in L1 wasn’t the greatest. Hopefully his mate Thierry Small can convince him to go and join him up in Preston.

I thought we had a low budget this window despite what we were told. I’m wondering now whether we are going to spend any further money and just get loans. This powder dry comment could be just a smoke-screen.

I know someone said we already turned him down, and I think I am seeing why.

A lot of smoke that Archie Collins agent is requiring 15k a week to asking clubs. Makes a lot more sense why he hasn't been picked up yet even by a top league 1 club or bottom end Champ. The audacity of some of these agents.

This should surely highly the argument that TC & Kayne are well within their rights to look for more money if this is what a player who's proved himself as a good league one player and nothing more can demand?
He might be able to demand £15k, but his current employment status suggests he can't command it.

Are you a part of a wider EFL ITK group?
    Maybe he knows Small.

If Kaminski is off then we're playing a dangerous game letting it happen this late. We've been absolutely rubbish at signing keepers in the past few years; Mannion came in as backup to an experienced number 1 in 24/25. We didn't get Walton, we apparently had Adam Davies booked in for a medical but instead he chose to leverage that into a new deal to sit on his arse at Sheffield Utd, we were in for and then missed out on Karl Hein and ended up with just Mannion and AMB. We managed to get Kaminski in fine last season but I'd be concerned about the repeat possibility of us trying to get someone to replace Kaminski while relying on Mannion and then running the risk of having him as our number 1 until January if we continue to fail at getting a keeper in. There's Premier League kids like Setford and maybe Whitworth but you'd imagine most of the keeper movement has already happened for this window
I would agree it’s tight, but I see TK being our starting keeper as just as big a risk.

Doucher with another absolutely fantastic rumour post. Right up there with cracked phone screen:

    might have been Darren Pratley
    - young fella who looked fairly athletic and mobile, no indication of who he actually is, tantalising descriptors but they could apply to dozens of footballers in our sights
    - confirmed he got off at the train station nearest to Sparrows Lane

But then why would he take the train? Was it defo Pratley? Is is just some guy who lives in SE? So many questions.

    Lovely, lovely stuff

I guess the question is that is it more dangerous to have Kaminski in goal for the season?

I doubt we’d let him go if we didn’t have our replacement pretty much sorted

Got off at New Eltham - big unit
Pratley is first team coach at Leyton Orient. What Orient player would we be interested in.
Maybe we could have done with their keeper whom I'm on first name terms with holding out for a Championship club suddenly in need of a keeper, as I even said to him might be possible AH WELL
He would love to join us as well, I know that much. And only on a two-year deal at Orient so if we get a loan in this year, and he does well at the O's this season...

I can't believe there is a world where we let our current number 1 go a few days before the season KOs without having a replacement line up. Even by Charlton's standards that would be batshit

To be honest I think it's far more likely that teams wait for him to be available on a free but I think he will rightly be expecting a lot of teams. A 22 year old speed demon with incredible fitness, work rate and the ability to beat his man and bang the ball in the top corner who has already made 146 EFL appearances? The talent and physical attributes are there, he just needs developing in terms of his consistency with his end product. Teams will be falling over themselves to pick a player like that up on a free, absolutely no risk and all upside. He's clearly happy enough to stay here if he's turning down moves up north so he can be totally relaxed about it at this point; if a team he wants to play for come in for a bit of money he can go there, if we are doing well this season and he wants to stay he can sign a new deal, otherwise he can walk at the end of his agreed contract and there will be no shortage of teams after him. The idea that because he hasn't scored a huge number of goals for an attritional defensive side where he's been the only outlet other teams wouldn't see his potential is mad

Selling Tyreece would be a massive mistake.
getting rid of Miles would be a massive mistake

both are happy here and wouldn’t be the same fit wherever they go but, more importantly, both are excellent players and this “click” we are waiting for could be spectacular.  Miles in particular because we ce o ly seen it in flashes.  One problem is body language - his languid style makes him look lazy but he’s one of our fastest players.  His biggest problem is he is NOT his father and is not a target man.  If we play to his strengths there’s no reason he can’t be as good or better than Morgan Whittaker as he has a lot of talent and potential still

if miles and TC get more adventurous players around them we’ll see the best of them
You say it’s a mistake who’s it not the club they offered TC new contract and Jones has said many times he wants him to stay .. Be honest Jones was to loyal to him last season when most managers would have dropped him so he does owe Jones who stood by him .. we shall see what TC thinks of this club or is he another one of a long line who think their better then they are and disappear in a year or two …. Time will tell
Good post, spot on in every respect.
Jones has played TC out of position repeatedly and asked him to do a defensive role he isn't cut out for and hampers his ability to impact games as he would want. I think the loyalty needed at this point is from Jones to TC.

If TC wants to develop, and we all accept that he has potential that he needs to now fulfil, he needs to be given a chance to do so in his natural position over the course of a full season and within a team where he gets the opportunity to shine.

That would be my demand before signing a contract, and I would want a pretty ironclad escape clause if that didn't come to fruition. As it happens, that set of circumstances happens to be in the clubs interest too, not only for getting more out of him, but increasing his value for the future.

I'm not TC's biggest fan but he has every right to run his contract down , if that's what he wants to do. As long as he gives 100% this season , which is in his and the clubs best interest , I'm fine with that. If he doesn't produce this season his options will be less attractive next summer.

I am more worried about our survival chances next season than this tbf. There will likely be much less dross in the league, along with the issue of replacing some of our better players whose contracts expire

So what? Jones is "refusing" to sign a contract after we "rescued" his career that was going "nowhere" at Cambridge, he is "disrespecting" the club and fans.

See how silly that is but that is how double standards work; rate a player then it is OK for him to negotiate a new deal, don't rate a player and they are greedy and should be dropped.

Personally I want them both to resign and I suspect they will.

Asiimwe ,JRC, Kanu - I think the 4th to go may have to be  Leaburn - ruthless but that’s pro football
Can't be Leaburn and Kanu. That will leave us with a 35 year old Matt Godden, an injured Charlie Kelman and a 19 year old Micah Mbick returning from a knee injury. The only thing that would be ruthless towards would be our chances of staying in the Championship
Technically we could use Grant as an outrightbstriker but then we're back to not having many wide options so it would be a last resort.
I can only see Leaburn going if it somehow means we can then get an oven ready proven striker with genuine Championship bona fides - which seems very very unlikely and doesn't do anything to solve the numbers problem anyway.
Tc and Alli? the new winger r the 2 left side options, apter and the winger we r looking to bring in r the right side options leaving Grant and Godden to job share until mbick and Kelman r back
The thing is though you're taking from one area of need to populate another. Grant isn't a good centre forward in our set-up unless we're playing with 2 up front, in which case we're even more short. The striker in our set up needs to be able to challenge for the high ball as well as popping up in the box, Grant isn't the man for that job and it won't get the best out of him. Mbick is absolutely untested at this level both physically and in terms of ability. He spent last season looking decent in L2 but we can't be reliant on him as our third choice striker at this stage in the season, especially as he had a bad injury. He's fine at a 4th striker who we test out but he can't be counted as a serious option at this stage. So really if we get rid of Leaburn it's just Godden and Kelman and one injury later - Godden missed most of last season and Kelman is on his second injury with us already - we're totally unable to change a game.
I agree to an extent but if we are relying on Leaburn to win aerial duals, then we are in trouble - I think our striker needs to be able to hold the ball up but into feet this year - we hardly ever played into a strikers feet last year - Kelman did well up top on his own in that game against Hull last year and I think that’s the type of lone striker we are playing this year - Godden, Grant and Kelman can all do that and I’m assuming mbick will be the preferred alternative option
Leaburn won the most aerial duels per 90
of any striker last season and was in the top 2% for % of aerial duels won. He’s good at winning those duels now, people just have unrealistic expectations
He may win them, they just don't go to anyone. IMO he's poor and nowhere near championship level.
Agreed - Dykes showed how to do it

Agreed. A few people on here said we could do better than Dykes, but the reality is we couldn’t even afford him. I think some of our supporters still seriously underestimate just how limited our budget actually is.

We can do better than Dykes .
betcha Dykes scores more than Miles this year!
    Deal.

He does have that right but I always feel its poor form for an academy graduate, Preston would still have been making him a decent offer. Making the club that developed you miss out on a fee to score a bit of extra money isn’t a good look

Narrowing a view of a player to just goals and assists is so narrow minded but so many fans do it, especially with TC.

TC has rare attributes that clubs are looking for, they aren’t looking at the goal and assist number, if he was putting up big numbers along with what else he does he’d be in the premier league. Clubs will see what he offers outside of end product and think he is worth having, and then if they can unlock a few more goals and assists he’s a big sale waiting to happen. It’s obvious he will have lots of interest from clubs better than us unfortunately, hopefully we can convince him to do one more contract here

We don’t know if TC is being reasonable or unreasonable. Maybe our offer isn’t good enough so he wants to see what else is out there for him? It’s not like we are throwing a lot of money around this summer. I’d suspect he’s asking for a wage that other championship teams will offer him next summer, so it’s up to us to match that
Maybe he (or his agent) believes he’s going to have a stellar season and will be in a position next summer to either leverage a better deal from us or have his pick of Championship clubs next summer.

A lot of smoke that Archie Collins agent is requiring 15k a week to asking clubs. Makes a lot more sense why he hasn't been picked up yet even by a top league 1 club or bottom end Champ. The audacity of some of these agents.
Not true, lots of clubs looking for big, strong and athletic players in the middle of the pitch and it's been a tough window to get things done. He's going to Huddersfield.
