At a risk of a woosh, it's a Virtual Private Network, and allows your computer to be seen as in a foreign country, so you can watch CATV as an International viewer, I use Nord VPN, and it's been no problem...Arsenetatters said:I have no idea what a VPN is but I think I need one.I feel like Rowan Atkinson on the Not the nine o’clock news sketch asking to buy a gramophone.
No idea what the Rowan Atkinson sketch is...😉Hopefully self explanatory!1 -

I’ve been using Nord, £80 for two years, went half with my daughter, also got a £20 Amazon voucher with the deal, didn’t go halves with her on that. 😉Bang, over the bar.3

It's a magnificent piece of comedy built around the situation where the stooge has little or no knowledge of a given topic and is then effectively humiliated by the all-knowing front man.https://youtu.be/dSINO6MKtco?si=Qlo2OV0hQITPWWrx

Yes I use Nord and found it to be the most reliable and user friendly interface for less technical users ( for reference I work in cyber security and its what I advise my dad to use). Very occasionally the powers at be may recognise the IP address as one linked to VPN just simply refresh selection and you should get a new IP.0 -
Yes, this happened a few times with ITV X and I just changed location from London to say Manchester or Edinburgh and it worked. Happend more often with Express but again changing location solved matters with that too. Nord just feels a bit more stable but I don't think you can go worng with either.Radostanradical said:

Does the VPN on anti virus like Norton etc do the job?0

Should do. The one on my McAfee does.LenGlover said:Does the VPN on anti virus like Norton etc do the job?0 -
The only VPN I personally use is my own, which is no good for what most of you are talking about since it exits in the Woolwich Dockyard area. However, while we are on the subject of computer networking, why is the club still stuck with legacy IP in this day and age:
ping6: www.cafc.co.uk: Address family for hostname not supported ?
This is particularly frustrating when they could allocate:
<ipv6 prefix>::cafc

I did this a few years back and forgot about the auto renewal. I can't remember what the cost was, (certainly a lot more that the original), but I had done via PayPal and as I had authorised it previously the onus was on me to remember to cancel if I no longer needed it. I tried to get out of it but without success.IdleHans said:smurfd said:
I have surfshark and have put it on almost everything no extra cost works well but don't know about Nord.redman said:I am to get a VPN . Nord seems to be the obvious one to get (although I know there are free ones). Does anyone know, if I subscribe and register, can I log in each time, so that sometimes use on my laptop and sometimes my wife's laptop?Agree with this. Signed up for two years for about fifty quid. From memory it covers up to ten devices.Edit: unlimited number of devices1 -
Probably just seen as low priority as most fans can still reach the website using IPv4, also maybe ints a contract issue when the hosting contract comes up for review they will look to move to an IPv6 address. Also there could possibly be some technical debt as you would need to update different infrastructure- DNS, mail and name servers etc. No security risks of staying ipv4 either and the operational risk is still some time left, our lack of a championship standard goalkeeper is a more pressing concern atm.FreshHaddock said:The only VPN I personally use is my own, which is no good for what most of you are talking about since it exits in the Woolwich Dockyard area.
