The 2.24 Victoria to Eastbourne Southern train has derailed outside Lewes at about 3.30pm. No fatalities or serious injuries reported by the BBC, as of 5.30pm. Routes through the area at a standstill, obviously.

We travelled back that way on Sunday. On the journey out, Hastings via High Brooms etc, we noticed the journey was incredibly bumpy. Britain isn't built for this heat2

Another derailment now. This one at Wickford. Hope everyone's OK. At very least there are going to be some awful onward journeys.

A defect was found on railway tracks in East Sussex at the site where a train derailed leaving 30 injured, a report says.
Initial findings from the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) found an "irregularity" with the tracks near Lewes where three carriages tumbled down an embankment last Thursday.
The RAIB, which is continuing to investigate the derailment, said it had received "several reports of rough riding at the location of the derailment from passengers on other trains".
