He is absolutely massive for us. Well done to all involved getting him tied down for another 2 seasons. COYRs!!!0

Great news, and shows good commitment from club and Jones, now make him Captain Jones…🙏1

Shit. Thought he was off to West Ham in a £10m deal.SteveACS said:Anybody who doesn't think this absolutely brilliant news needs to give their heads a wobble...1 -
Get in, best signing of the summer so far!2

Fantastic. What a player, leader, and lovely bloke too. COYR.1

Lloyd has already done enough to attain legend status, and this just cements it.Best signing of the window by far.6

Nothing not to like here. Arguably our best player of the last 10 years. Certainly the 2020s. Probably the the first player since Lyle Taylor where you feel like we’ve had his best years.
Nice early announcement hopefully a sign that the media team has a few queued up for today.

Let's hope anything else in the queue is positive. I think Kayne will sign a new contract, not convinced we can keep TC though. A new creative right-sided midfielder would be nice!Exiled_Addick said:Nothing not to like here. Arguably our best player of the last 10 years. Certainly the 2020s. It might signal that Lloyd thinks the transfer shenanigans this summer have been positive.
But which is best for Lloyd though, playing in a back four or a back three?0 -
He will be 32 if stays the course, his contract value will be less then than it would have been. Makes it plain there was no real interest in him this summer.jose said:It might signal that Lloyd thinks the transfer shenanigans this summer have been positive.

But which is best for Lloyd though, playing in a back four or a back three? It doesn't make it plain at all. There may well have been interest in him but Lloyd decided for his own reasons that he was prepared to stay with us.The important thing is that he will continue to wear the shirt.

I doubt there was interest for Jones this summer reason being what we have seen this pre season he can’t play with the ball and isn’t as effective when he can’t go man to man so no one would have seen the value in paying what it takes to get him off us.That being said there was nothing stopping him seeing out the last year and he would have got a lot of interest as a free agent and he would have been justified after all he’s done so you do really have to appreciate him for that4

Great news - best centre half in the division2

I can't See Tyreece going to Coventry 😃 but TC still has a higher ceiling if he can have a tad less defensive responsibility and plays more as an outright wide player changing from right to left during games with either Grant or Alli. This keeps defenders honest if they have different 'wingers' going inside or out.
The reality of football finance is that if we can get 4 million or more for TC if he has blinding success until the winter window then it has to be considered. We can't keep losing the amount we are without some multi millions come back to the club.

Good news about Lloyd Jones as he is established at Charlton and this is the highest level he has reached as a regular 1st team player.
Personally I didn't see West Ham being interested when they didn't do a fire sale.
Possibly a Middlesbrough or Burnley but he wouldn't have the love he has at CAFC.
Lloyd can now get his focus back and play better than the 1st 45 minutes against Cheltenham.0 -
I've been dreading him moving on this summer. Just realised this morning what a huge deal for us this is. Best CB since the premier league years imo.3

Best signing this transfer window!
Now make him captain!0 -
Just to add it's great that our two times Player of the year Lloyd has signed a 2 year contract but personally I want the top 3 in 26/27 to be perm any 3 from Godden,Grant, Kelman, Leaburn, TC, Carey etc for obvious reason that we have multiple players with 10+ goals and a myriad of assists.
The other player that would be great to see POTY would be Nat Chalobah as that would means he has stayed fit and pulled the strings.

Well done, the club, for getting it sorted.

Nobody wants a defender to be PoTY. That said , Rufus (who was brilliant ) won over Hunt in 2000 when we scored a lot of goals.soapboxsam said:Just to add it's great that our two times Player of the year Lloyd has signed a 2 year contract but personally I want the top 3 in 26/27 to be perm any 3 from Godden,Grant, Kelman, Leaburn, TC, Carey etc for obvious reason that we have multiple players with 10+ goals and a myriad of assists.

Congrats to my mate, a well earned bumper pay and a vital player in consolidating at this level.

“We must get Lloyd Jones to sign a new deal
if we have any ambition.”
“Ah he’s only signed a new deal because no one else wants him.”
Only on Charlton Life.11 -
He needed taking care of with a new deal and I’m glad the club have done right by him but I was never particularly concerned about him leaving the club, it always felt to me like he’d be staying. He’s become this squad’s version of a Johnnie Jackson type figure.7

Lovely way to start a Friday! TC and Rambo over to you!1

Great news. You would hope that if we can stabilize and become a competitive club in the Championship, he’ll see out his career with us. Playing for a football club is quite a transient business these days, so the fact this is his 4th season with us is a sign we’ve got ourselves together and we’re building.
Fingers crossed TC and Ramsay follow
