2026-27 CL Prediction League Week 1 Results

When @Coveredendchoir posted 'Yes it’s back !! Im gunning for the league this season !' on the Week 1 Fixtures thread, it was difficult to forgive the overuse of exclamation marks or lack of apostrophes, and wondering if this was just more early-season bravado. But this is someone who has clearly trained hard, predicting games in China and Australia to keep in trim, with the reward being an outstanding 8 points to open the season's campaign. @BertieB also looks in fine fettle with an impressive 7 points, while newcomers, @pickwick and @PringlesCurtains, along with regulars, @Frankie_de_Toro, @fenaddick and @Kap10, all bagged 5 points. Others, of course, are keeping their powder dry, realising its marathon, not a sprint.

Meanwhile, the Mini-Statbank is back, in a reduced state until there is some form to monitor. However, a new weekly statistic will reveal who 'Knows Their Charlton Best' by seeing who clocks up the best average score over the season when predicting a Charlton game, whether it's a win, loss, or draw. Impressively, 14 competitors average three points for Charlton games after one week, as this surprisingly high number of predictors looked into their crystal balls and predicted a 2-1 win. There will also be a new virtual prize for Manager of the Month, but more about that later. As for the CL Prediction League Peace Prize, that's still up for discussion.

Finally, we can unveil decisions about that thorny subject of sorting scores. The Prediction League Committee sat late into the night and, after much discussion, agreed that the 2026-27 system will be N to S, then A-M, then Z-T. There are always going to be winners and losers (losers in my case), and it's a golden opportunity for the Ns, for which @No.1 in South London will undoubtedly be grateful this week after scoring a blob.

Finally finally, 40 competitors sat on a crowded Noughty Step, which, for the benefit of any newbies, is the place you go if you score a zero. There's glory, though, for the one who avoids it the longest, as usual. Right, here are the Stats and League Tables after one week…
