I’m not defending it, there’s pro’s and con’s to it. It just gets tiring seeing people wanting to reconfigure a system that's worked perfectly well for years into one that guarantees them a ticket.
2 tickets per person is absolutely fine, people only seem to take issue with it when it's a game like this one. We're not Manchester United or Liverpool where every single away game is oversubscribed.12 -
I think if people cant buy 2 tickets a lot will decide not to go in the first place. I know a lot of people who go on their own and that's fine, personally I wouldnt like it after a while and probably stop going. For the fans who go up and down the country spend a shit ton of money and accumalate these points they should have the benefits they currently get.
I know its frustrating but the points system has been the same for years. You know roughly how many points are needed to get near the top of the list so its down to you to get there.9 -
Im sure it has been put on here a million times but.. when I bought a ticket to West ham away I also got one for my boy (I was phase 3, he was phase 5 so would have got one anyway before someone moans!). I would now like to apportion the ticket to him. Can I do that myself online or do I have to email the club?
I know it won't matter for Spurs and we are both phase 2 for that anyway!

England Away tickets are done per member not 2 tickets per member, the same as with england home tickets.5

You need to email the club, depending on who reads the email they may do it or they may not. I think you should be awarded an extra point for every year you have supported the club.

Every time you went into an away end back in the day. Gives me about another 100 points
Every time you got nicked and had to pay a fine
10 points per nick , Gives me another 60 points.
By my reasoning I should be in phase one every away game.

Yes, because it's a "Travel Club" which costs £65 to join to specifically be eligible for away tickets, they also have around 15,000 people applying for around 2,000 tickets for every single away game.palarsehater said:England Away tickets are done per member not 2 tickets per member, the same as with england home tickets.
Tickets are then allocated on a priority basis, I.E those with the most loyalty points (caps).4 -

As an aside, if you’ve VG I’ve no doubt it will get to phase 7. I think they deliberately pitch the phases where they know OR VG has the opportunity to buy, to protect the point around giving some away ticket benefit.I think a few people are forgetting we’ve 2,700 extra than the West Ham allocation, and not everyone will fancy battling the shit public transport or parking hassle on a Midweek night7

It’s frustrating for me as I’ve got 2x u18’s who come with me, so all points go to me. When we have the 2 tickets per person it causes difficulties. Frustrating, but like West Ham I’ll just have to sit in their end when it goes on general sale.Belv said:

I know we are talking different distances et, but as a comparison for the Man U cup game, after Phase 5 sales we’re at this point:
Allocation 7,403 | Sold: 1,751
OR VALLEY GOLD was again Phase 7. After Phase 7 sales were:Allocation 7,403 | Sold: 3,755

A major difference between then and now is that there would have been a decent number who had already been to Old Trafford in previous years whereas this is a new ground for everyone for a Charlton game (although "new ground" depends on who you listen to ...
)

I’m in phase 2 so doesn’t really matter to me, but it really should only be 1 per person. If the plan is to get into the top flight then it must change to 1. Otherwise, scheme is open to significant touting.Club need to give almost a full season of notice so people will actually make an effort to allocate the points to the relevant person.8

I agree with this, whenever i buy away/cup game tickets i buy 2, one for me and one for my son. Have never bothered to allocate them to him as its a faff and we dont need to. I would if we both needed them but it would take him a year to get to the same number as meAFKABartram said:

If you buy enough tickets for enough games (having read the rules), you will guarantee yourself a ticket for the "big" away games, it's that simple.

I can understand the frustration that being a season ticket holder doesn’t have some sort of advantage to getting a ticket when people are getting tickets for others that only want to go for the one showpiece game in the season. Missed out on West Ham tickets which was a bit disappointing, hope to get some for this one.obviously we have more season ticket holders than tickets available, I get that, it’s a tricky one to please everyone.0

Is it still the case that you only get your points for the home games if you attend? It is not good enough to have bought a ticket to get the points.

I only attend one or two home matches per season plus the Wemberlee finals as I spend most of my time abroad during the colder months. However, I manage to watch all the other matches via Charlton TV which at a tenner a pop puts my financial contribution to CAFC at roughly £450 per season (not including the cup matches as we don’t normally last that long in any competition). I am also a fully paid up member of Valley Gold (for donkeys years) which roughly translates to £570 not including the odd game I managed to get to see at £30. And so my question is whether someone with a season ticket is more of a priority tickets than me if the financial criteria is brought into play?
I must admit other than Wemberlee, I’ve no real drive now to attend away matches or at the Valley when its piss poor weather as I’ve been there and done that and it no longer appeals, especially I can watch it in comfort.
Anyway interesting point now that all matches are available on Charlton TV and should this be taken into account when it comes to priority points? 🤓5 -
It does seem odd that the starting point is as low as eight away games plus Valley Gold. I can only assume that, due to the high allocation, the ticket office is trying to spread high figures across each stage and haven't given any thought to rewarding the most loyal fans with the first pick of seats.
Although, given how the tickets are usually sold, it won't surprise me if we have to wait until phase 7 for the best seats to go on sale anyway.2
