I only attend one or two home matches per season plus the Wemberlee finals as I spend most of my time abroad during the colder months. However, I manage to watch all the other matches via Charlton TV which at a tenner a pop puts my financial contribution to CAFC at roughly £450 per season (not including the cup matches as we don’t normally last that long in any competition). I am also a fully paid up member of Valley Gold (for donkeys years) which roughly translates to £570 not including the odd game I managed to get to see at £30. And so my question is whether someone with a season ticket is more of a priority tickets than me if the financial criteria is brought into play?
I must admit other than Wemberlee, I’ve no real drive now to attend away matches or at the Valley when its piss poor weather as I’ve been there and done that and it no longer appeals, especially I can watch it in comfort.

Anyway interesting point now that all matches are available on Charlton TV and should this be taken into account when it comes to priority points? 🤓
While I sympathise with your argument giving points for watching the stream is open to abuse. Nothing to stop someone (with the money) buying a streaming pass AND a match ticket or season ticket. The points brackets would get very wacky indeed

I truly accept that they should be. But my question relates to the financial side and using Valley Gold as an example of why they should get priority over someone that actually attends matches and those that don’t attend but have Valley Gold?

I’m a season ticket holder with my son, we’ve been attending a few away games and the ones we don’t go to, I buy on charlton tv and that’s every away game, so I would argue my outlay is quite substantial along with 2 shirts for the boy as minimum a season, most times one for myself as well as other merchandise.aswell as junior Addicks membership, as I say two tickets to West Ham would have been nice more so for the boy,We can all tot up what we spend. People will get mates a ticket just for spurs or just for West Ham and they won’t be seen for dust afterwards🤷🏻‍♂️

Every in-demand away game people moan about the system. Go to more games and you won’t have any problems… simple as that
Or simply buy a ticket for the godforsaken northern away games (with no intention of actually attending) just to preserve your buying power for the big games you really do want to attend... if you value the latter high enough it's a rational strategy and importantly doesn't deny anyone a ticket for the games you don't attend as they aren't away sell outs.

I think you should be awarded an extra point for every year you have supported the club.

    1965.  Gives me 61 points

Every time you went into an away end back in the day.  Gives me about another 100 points

Every time you got nicked and had to pay a fine

10 points per nick , Gives me another 60 points.

By my reasoning I should  be in phase one every away game.

    I thank you
You should get extra points from how many goals your user name has scored for the club

England Away tickets are done per member not 2 tickets per member, the same as with england home tickets.

Is it still the case that you only get your points for the home games if you attend?  It is not good enough to have bought a ticket to get the points.
Yeah ticket has to be scanned. Coventry are trialling the same system for their cup game against Plymouth to stop people just buying tickets to get points

Had it so many times, eg  'I'm corporate, spend more so should get priority, ""I've had a season ticket since 1905" etc. VG is a bit of a fly in the ointment and everyone has differing domestic and financial circumstances but essentially, the more games you attend the more points you get. Not really rocket science

Disagree with our loyalty points being looked at purely as financial, don’t like that comparison at all. That could be never ending with people who have kids and grandkids and spend £££ more in the shop than someone else getting high points. Just leave it be, the more away games you attend (on top of season ticket/VG or not) the better chance you have of being in a higher phase. No idea why people come out every single ‘big’ game and create pages of moaning that they might not be able to get a ticket early in sales phase.

The whole vg priority is great when it makes it to vg only stage this has a chance of not making it to that given that vg and st are same phase and it’s 2 per member, and it clearly shows we have a lot of fickle fans that fancy a day out Millwall I think nearly made general sale. And was a smaller allocation than both.

Vg did reply stating that it’s the ticketing team that decide on stages and would voice there concerns.

Also those getting sore over people moaning it’s a massive game for the club and fans want to go, I can’t justify having a st as I can’t make every game but did do 11 away games last season and about 15 home games.

I stand by the point, 2 per person and vg phase being same as st holders fucks me over and I’m paying £120 a season for the privilege, if people disagree that vg isn’t used as a priority for tickets remove it and see how many are still members for next season.

Most people buy VG for the ticket perks, its a plain and simple fact. The same argument about its fairness has been going on for years. Easiest solution is to just goes two's on a membership with a friend for the few times a season its actually needed.

Valley Gold priority for Spurs puts you 2 phases higher than a season ticket holder for 2 years, at phase 7 (the equivalent of 530 points).
You previously listed the games that you attended last year and that showed 7 home league games, plus Chelsea and 8 away games, the furthest travelled being Leicester, not 15 homes and 11 aways.
The 8 away games listed included quite a few where availability would have been scarce, so your Valley Gold membership seems to have done well for you.

The points + VG tier, I have no real problem with, you’ve done a decent amount of games to get to that level, and you paid a bit more into the club, for a couple of hours head start.

The free for all, where the tickets effectively go on general sale around Phase 7 is a bit of a piss take

I'm Phase 5 and would be fairly confident that it will get that far if I was intending to go.
The only Phase that looks a bit iffy to me is Phase 7 - VG only giving priority over a ST holder for the last two years. I doubt it will get to Phase 8.

No system is perfect though, but perhaps as suggested already only two tickets per person if one is an under 18, otherwise just one ticket.

OK staunch defenders of the scheme defend the 2 tickets per person?.

this is literally the only forum of a club where you arent allowed to have an opinion without some pompous reply.

Yes and its also a fact that nobody will care after spurs, until December when we play Millwall, then maybe April when we play QPR.

VG member and the main reason I bought it was to support the academy. With the added bonus of potentially getting away tickets and winning some money in their draws. I’ve been a member for 5 years and believe the only games where it’s helped me get a ticket and been above my loyalty points is West Ham and Wrexham last season.

The loyalty point system could not be fairer, don’t see how there can plausibly be arguments against it. This will make phase 7 and VG members who don’t have many loyalty points will be able to get a ticket, so the incentive is still there

I see no way Bob that it doesn’t reach Phase 7. I just don’t think we have got 2,844 fans with 550 points (2*ST+early renewal + 4 aways) and every single one of them taking 2 tickets.

Just doesn’t seem realistic to me. I don’t think there’s been a single game (bar the uniqueness of Cray Valley) where a ticket sale hasn’t included the OR VG level
