Burnham on for Mbick, another big physical striker, and Belton for Ouma in the holding role.
Playing left wing, or trying to stay central?
The coach wanted the team to park the bus, and Burnham brought his own yellow one.

Nasty looking head injury for Josh Herbert right at the end. Hopefully not too serious.

He had looked lively before then

    Hope Josh Hebert is ok.

On the run of play and chances created we deserved to win but it is goals that matter.

Before people start with the "typical Charlton" nonsense, it really wasn't

Usually the U21s score a lot of goals.

Today we over played, missed good chances and were up against a decent keeper.

It's a development league and we had a lot of last year's U18s stepping up plus the disruption of 1st teamers using the game to get fit/stay sharp.

No need to be so defensive, Henry. No one is blaming you.
    Yet.

    Thanks for the reporting.

Went along today with my lad. Enjoyable game despite the result. Plenty of positives and was interesting hearing the Bolton fans/player family talk so positively about our players and indeed style of play at times.

Plenty of chances to win the game but a mixture of good keeping, poor finishing and generally being unlucky meant a very defensive Bolton side escaped with the win, due to a wonder goal (trying to give Hardy a break). In the first half we were very tidy on the ball with Ouma, MBick and Burke getting a solid 45 minutes. Apter applied himself pretty well although he didn’t spend much time on the right wing, and was instead more central. A lot of the first team watched the first half and indeed you could see how well staffed the academy and training ground is with the numbers watching on the opposite side of the field, close to that of the number of fans/family/observers/scouts on our side.

I felt the likes of Reid and Hebert showed some of the great potential they have. Ed Thomas is interesting as he has a small frame but you can tell he has a lot of good traits. I think the two that most caught my eye though were McNamee-Burke and Tagoe. M-B seems to have great pace whilst being powerful without being too well built. He kind of reminded me of a young Sichenje, having pace, power and the ability to play. Tagoe has a fantastic engine and was a constant threat down the left and to me was probably my MoM. I’m hopeful several of these lads can transition into our team and plenty of them will have decent pro careers at the very least.

    Couple of side notes:
    - I had to leave early for a doc appointment and missed Herbert’s head injury and I hope he’s ok. (You can definitely see why we signed him)
    - I heard the linesman explain to the Bolton bench that Tagoe couldn’t be booked for a deliberate foul as the referee had given play on. I didn’t think this was the case at all and the Bolton bench weren’t happy.
    - Coaches Lock and Solly were so locked in discussion at half time that it caused Reece Burke to come out of the dressing room and question where they were. Gave us a chuckle.

Overall, disappointing result but I think this group will do well this year and I expect a couple could get loans out.

The Police were only called to the incident at 1115.

The officials and Bolton players were at the Valley so pretty well done to get the game started just a little late at Sparrows Lane.

Michael Mylona scored one from a free kick, it’s on his Instagram story and 26/27 highlights.

Interesting thing is it was with his left foot, and in the Bolton game the other day he took an inswinging corner from the left with his right foot, and an in swinging corner from the right with his left foot.

Seems he’s another genuinely two footed player like Fullah.
