Pretty good - huge magazine library but the newspapers are curated rather than mimicking the full printed version or a standalone individual newspaper subscription. It might just be worth the £12.99 per month standalone subscription if you have a lot of interests but I bundle it with Apple One Premier - it costs £37 per month but you get Apple Music, Apple TV+, News+, Fitness+, Apple Arcade and 2Tb of Cloud storage. I think that's a pretty good package. It also allows family sharing up to five other people.
They do a couple of other levels if you don't need the news and fitness and are happy with 50gb (£18.95) or 200gb (£24.95).
As its usual with apple they'll give you a months free trial.
I've been with apple products now since about 2006/2007 when the first MacBook Pro's came out, I still have that one and it works fine, if a little slow. Would never personally go back to windows machines (although have one for work). I very nearly did switch from the iPhone earlier this year as really wanted a fold phone, but will wait to see Apple's version.
The one Apple bit I've never switched to is Apple TV0 -

An alternative for the OP and what I do, I have a MacBook Air but on my desk I also have a 34" LG widescreen monitor that I can dock to with a docking station, best of both worlds and remaining in the apple eco system. I can also dock my works Windows Laptop.1 -
Thanks to everyone for their recommendations. Once again Charlton Lifers demonstrate their innate helpfulness. I think Chizz's recommendation of the Lenovo IdeaCentre is probably the closest to what I wanted, I'd seen these online and was pleased to know that someone I trust has had a good experience. I was also happy to have my thoughts about Dell confirmed. The HP might be OK, but being the owner of one of their printers I don't like them as a company (too controlling and manipulative for my liking). Surprised at just how many Apple recommendations I got as I'd said I was keen to escape, so maybe worth considering. However, for now I'm not looking to buy as the fault on my current machine has miraculously fixed itself. Hopefully it was just a temporary glitch, so at the moment I'm glad my impulsive self didn't rush out to buy a new machine. Thanks all!3

I’ve been using Macs since the mid 90s for work and still use them now.
I’ve even transitioned two of my Children (not like that) to Macbook Airs (when cheap deals come up) as their basic Windows Laptops they didn’t have great longevity.
Plus, even though the kids had PCs and I have one PC at work to run a certain software, I just can’t get used to Windows. Their updates, their installs, their drivers, the Microsoft accounts (clashing with school accounts).
Drives me mad when I have to sort my Mum’s Laptop out when she has issues.
I just haven’t got the time for Windows and am not a Computer geek, just want something that works.
When I look for deals for MacBooks I normally look at Currys Clearance via EBay (especially when they have a code), Currys main site sale, Ebuyer etc. as I am always on a budget.
