I think it does help with being able to finish off a chance when you haven't had to pick up the ball just inside your own half and sprint the entire rest of the pitch and try and beat two players before getting a shot off. We now have more width, more threats and he's getting the ball high up the pitch with fewer defenders trying to crowd him out. It's no wonder his finishing has improved29

And also when he does shoot its because he has time, space and opportunity and isn't taking a speculative effort just because there's no other support/option.Garrymanilow said:I think it does help with being able to finish off a chance when you haven't had to pick up the ball just inside your own half and sprint the entire rest of the pitch and try and beat two players before getting a shot off. It's exactly as Jones said last season, we don't need to replace TC, we need more threats like him to give the opposition something else to worry about. Honestly feel like with a better number 10 we can really push on this season.5

Tbf, a number of Charlton fans would have said exactly thatScoham said:

TC’s two best spells with us were the few months with Small on the other side and these few games . No coincidence .shine166 said:

We’ve lost a lot of our top academy prospects, but we’re starting to see more signs of the good work put in over the last few years under this ownership.
TC looks set to have a great season, and Leaburn’s shown we need to stick with him. Mwamba’s pushed himself up the pecking order ahead of our captain. Gough and Laqeretabua are impressing out on loan. I still have high hopes for Fullah, hopefully that loan to MK Dons can be finalised soon.
A good reminder that while we’ve lost a lot of our top academy prospects, there’s still plenty of talent coming through, they just need a bit more patience and the right decisions on what’s best for their development - whether that’s being part of the first team, a loan or u21 football.7 -
The Academy system in the UK is seriously flawed. Transfers before professional contracts are signed should carry an automatic and non-negotiable or transferable 20% of any ongoing transfer fee to be divided by the number of years in an academy prior to the first professional contracts and divvied up to each club by reference to each club. Oh and 10% of player throughout their career as well.9

Think there was too much expected too early with the game-time that he received. He'd have benefitted from a bit of competition to allow him to receive less pressure.
Great to see he's clearly worked on parts of his game over the summer that drew the majority of the criticism towards him.

I'm happy for him that he's started the season so well and think he could have a fantastic season overall.
But still conscious he's turning 23, still developing that end product and consistency, he'll have purple patches this season and periods where he struggles to impact games.
I hope in the periods when he struggles to impact games we fans can keep our collective shit together and not get on his back.11 -
Some of our fans, I would say. A lot of our fans just said he was sh1t and we should get rid.shine166 said:

After Appleton totally destroyed TC's confidence, I believe we have to give NJ credit for the way he rescued the lad's career by taking him out of the spotlight and giving him the time, belief and support that was so desperately needed.
Jones has always publicly been ready to champion TC.
Another factor ....TC trained all through the close season that summer of Jones supporting him, built himself up and started the next season reborn.
The past couple of close seasons, TC has barely had a rest being involved with the Jamaica international squad - on top of making around 50 appearances for Charlton during the season
Testimony to his fitness and hard graft. But the boy had looked knackered and burned out at times towards the end of the past couple of seasons, especially mostly playing the arduous and demanding LWB role.
This close season he has had the most rest and looks refreshed for it - and playing in more in his natural position higher up the pitch.
And he looks like he's really enjoying his football again.

TC is the very epitome of a confidence player and why i get so pissed off with how our fans get on his back. Seeing those smiles on his face is fantastic. He seems in a great place this season and long may it continue as we will massively benefit from it.14

Carries on in anything like his current form and next summer we’ll be bracing ourselves for some big offers for him. Assuming he signs his contract that is.5
-
TC and Leaburn show the importance of young players staying with us at times.
TC seems very quiet, had he moved to another clubs academy and been shipped around on loan you can imagine he may well have got lost in the system and never fulfilled his potential.
Leaburn has needed time to grow into his body and again in a bigger academy would have got lost (like he did at Chelsea before).
There will be some 15/16 year olds that are immensely confident and great already but most leave us and are never heard of again. Swallowed up into an academy where instead of being one of the best they can barely get in the team, living away from home, getting disenfranchised by the whole thing.
Well done to TC and Leaburn, I hope the success comes your way and the riches that go with it.6 -

What reason could there be to delay the announcement?1

Notice Liverpool are playing their teenage whiz Rio Ngumoha as a forward right, and he's looked very uncomfortable there.

My guess is that terms aren’t 100% finalized. May have an agreement in principal but need to work out a couple detailsFloebot said:What reason could there be to delay the announcement?0 -
