If you were in the home stands at West Ham....

Seems like there were loads of Charlton fans who sat in the home stands.

If you did, how did you:-

  1. celebrate our goals?

2 . "celebrate" the West ham goal?

3. celebrate West ham missing their penalty.

And did you remain undetected all game?

If you didn't, did you get any grief?

All credit to any of our fans in the home ends who managed to stay undetected. Not sure I could have managed it, especially when they missed that penalty!

I sat with a west ham mate.  He held my hands down when we scored the first goal as he thought I was about to jump up & celebrate.

I squeezed his leg very hard at full time to stop myself from celebrating.

It's a hard thing to do ,but I got through it

Played a blinder .. didn’t celebrate when we scored .. got up and clapped when they did and got the pen. Shook head in disbelief when they missed.
Got caught at HT when bumped in West Han mates at the bar but to be fair they didn’t shout  us out !!!
    Good day out …

Sat quietly and had to hold my brother down who nearly jumped out of his seat when TC scored. We went over to the away fans and joined in with Valley Floyd Road though. Gutted not to be in with them.

Their fans were awful all game

Listening to their comments all through the game, and not responding was difficult.

Same really, saying 'oh blimey' at the two we scored and had to stand when they scored but I'm old and nobody looks. The penalty miss was the hardest.

    Must have been bloody torture.
Had similar experience when we beat Chelsea in 2005 Carling Cup at Stamford Bridge. Had to sit on my hands with my Chelsea supporting mate whispering (just stay sat down ). Standing amongst them while on the way out trying not to smile is burnt into my memories.
Bloody love this football club on days like these.

Listening to them moan about our fans celebrating like it was a cup final, tickled me.

Sat in block 246 with my brother. Could only get 2 tickets in the charlton end so I let my kids have them, and as I had to take them to the game anyway thought I might as well watch the game.

I think it was lucky that I missed Lloyds goal, not sure if I could contain myself. It gave me enough time to get my head in the game.

Was hard not to react, my empty bottle of water was getting more and more squashed by my hands. Heart pouning through my shirt as it was getting closer to the end of the game.

Stood up when they scored and did a polite half hearted clap. Didn't react when we got our second.

The facilities at the ground are great but it is a soulless stadium. The kids said the away end was great atmosphere but it didnt really carry over to the other end of the ground.

Much better experience than the last time I sat in the spam end when we lost on boxing day 5-0.
  • I think I can control myself in most situations, but hats off to those in the West Ham seats who managed to hold it in when they missed the penalty. No way I could have acted appropriately.

I just went into pre-season mode where I don't celebrate goals. The wife almost gave us away when we scored the second.

When they missed the pen I did a punch the air, but the guys next to me didn't see that so I got away with it. Said before the game to them that I was a neutral fan, and was joining in slagging their team off.

Is there a way of buying a ticket for the home end against Spurs on Wednesday?

Passion would have had anyone jumping up when that pen was missed, f*ck West Ham, all mouth anyway, mingle in with their supporters after the game letting everyone know that we’re Charlton and what people think of east London and not a peep.

Sounds like a proper knobby thing to do. Probably par for the course in 1975 when you'd get a response, but we're in 2026.

I love it when I see people do this and melt away as soon as they are confronted.

There was some older bloke all decked out trying to look hard and saw one of our fans on the walk to International and his daughter had to keep telling him not to try and start a fight.

I sat in row 73. Second to last row from the back. Long way up and it’s a long way from the pitch. Thought WH fans were ok and made a big noise when they sing I’m forever blowing bubbles. Obviously our early goal quietened them down. Was able not to celebrate that one but I think the second I did jump up but somehow pulled it around into a disappointment. Like Millwall the fans there are very easily dissatisfied and get on their players backs. Not a football stadium.

I had a friend's Man City season ticket when we were both in the Prem and had to take his 16 year old son on the train to Man City.  We lost 5-0 and I had to cheer every goal and then get the train home. It was a very long journey. I'm a very good actress though

There was a small group of (I  presume Charlton Fans) that came over to the back of the home end next to the Charlton fans after the final whistle.

They all looked happy so must of been Charlton

We were in block 225. I came to the match from Chelmsford. The 1pm train was rammed. They really do have massive support. Miles bigger than us. Coming out of the station a middle-aged hammer, was wetting himself as their two new signings were starting. Turned to his mates and predicted 5-0 minimum. Twat!

In the ground, I was struck by how most of them treated it like a gig. Continuously up and down getting drinks, food etc. Amazed at 2-1 that literally thousands were leaving. Mind you having suffered the queues back to Stratford Station, I could maybe understand if winning or losing comfortably.

The fans around me were totally passive, apart from the bubbles song. Just clenched fists and squeezed my partners hand when we scored and the pen miss. Stood up when they scored. The reality for me is that even in my mid 60's, it appears to mean far more to me than the average hammer.

Our fans were loud and proud. UTA!

Reminds me of a story my wife told me. Long before we met, back in her art school days she and a friend got taken to a Pompey Vs Millwall game by a couple of student lads. The girls were a bit bored and a bit pissed and spent most of the second half shouting Millwall chants for a laugh which wouldn't have been too bad but they were in the Fratton End and it didn't go down well with the locals. Apparently the boys who were a bit shaken up by the experience never invited them to another game after that.

I was also in row 73, 4 seats down from the fat b*std with the alky nose who immediately threw up into row 74 upon arrival. Nice!

Well done those who did, but not a chance in hell could I have sat with them and not react to the goals. Especially after hearing all week how they were going to smash us, from both Hammers  and our fans.
