This is what I don't understand. You could be a neutral fan in London for the weekend & decide to go to watch a game of football. As long as you don't sing VFR or jump up & down when we scored who's going to mind ? I'm sure the Hammers fans had more on their plate than to check people around them to see if they are cheering on the correct team. 

And perhaps West Ham should consider giving more tickets to away fans if there are plenty of empty seats in home areas. 

Sat in the hospitality seats 17 rows from the front.
A great view and felt close enough to the pitch.
Did small air punches when we scored down by my side. Probably was considered a football tourist when they scored as I remained seated.
When they missed the penalty was trying very hard not to react.
What shocked me most was the toxic and ugly behaviour of many of their fans against the manager as they got more and more frustrated. These were grown men in their 50’s and 60’s, wondered if it was a throw back to the hooligan element of their fan base. Normally in hospitality seats you can have good banter and feel perfectly safe to enjoy, not here it was very intimidating, don’t think me and hubby were rumbled.
Had our nephew, wife and three daughters also in with the West Ham fans other side of the stadium, seems like there were loads of us.

Same mate. I had plenty offers of tickets from West Ham mates to sit with them, “oh go on it’ll be fine”

I just can’t enjoy it, I don’t see the point in going if you can’t react how you’d like to

I am a charlton season ticket holder but live in essex.I have watched west ham v charlton 10 times from the west ham section.This was the least threatening environment ever.I did stay quiet and undetected throughout .I thought my heart would burst when penalty was missed

its mad how times have changed, years ago you wouldn't of dreamed of even attempting it, same with spurs. there was fans in the home ends actively celebrating after the win madness. 

I often used to sit in the home area, Battle of the Bridge and Selhurst in our last competitive match there League Cup being the most notable!  A few celebratory yups but mainly disappointing groans!

My ex is a Spurs fan and I watched Charlton in nearly all of our Prem fixtures in their main stand. So funny hearing them all slate Charlton as if we were a side that shouldn't even grace the same pitch as them !

Didn't go Saturday as I am still playing cricket but would happily buy in the home end.... 

Let’s be honest it’s perfectly fine to sit in opposition areas if you use your common sense and show some respect.

That was my group! So hard mingling for 90 minutes

The only time I lost it was when Okonkwo made that fingertip save. Fortunately many Hammers applauding the shot at the same time!

1. The way I celebrated our goals was by putting my head in my hands and banging the seat, as though I was disgusted with the West Ham defence.
2. When West Ham scored, I stood up, applauded slowly and didn’t say a word.
3. As per question one, but I also made a guttural sound that was somewhere between “yes!” and “aaarrrrggghhh!”
4. Whether I remained undetected is a bit of a mixed question. I was sitting with four or five pals who are all West Ham fans, including the West Ham chaplain, and they all know I’m a Charlton fan. I’ve previously been to Upton Park as an away fan and met them there, and they’ve been to The Valley as away fans and had a pint with me in the Oak. So they knew exactly who I was, and I behaved appropriately given the circumstances. I don’t think anyone else noticed.

Interestingly, once my pals had left at the end of the game, I stayed behind to watch the Charlton players celebrating with the away end. I probably had more chance of being discovered then than I did during the match.

Was in West Ham end with some old school West ham fans. The crowd has certainly changed there since the move. They were complaining about the fans now. They are certainly not their fathers sons 🤣

I managed to stay fairly quiet throughout but talked openly with them about us. Got a few looks but no one said anything. I did celebrate their penalty miss. Couldn't help it.

The away fans looked great but tbh noise was just ok... and last 15 I was messaging my sister, who was in away end, begging them to make noise it went very quiet.

My daughter & I were in the home end. My in-laws are all Hammers and ST holders.....they managed to get us tickets.

1. No, purely out of respect for the family member who sorted the tickets. I did however feel the urge to cheer for TC's goal, but converted that into a rant at Mavropanos and how 5hit he was!
2. I stood and clapped....if I hadn't, it would have looked suspicious.
3. We left straight away in disgust/delight!

On the way out, I wanted to shout so much, so every now and then I just shouted "F#cking West Ham!"....many others were doing it too!! )

No grief at all, my nephews (16 & 12) even shook my hand as they left early.
