For London sightings I'd recommend this thread- https://forum.charltonlife.com/discussion/89057/london-inner-city-wildlife/p22

Other geographies will encounter variations of species and may use different names.

What formation we playing against spurs?
What has this got to do with unindentifiable insects?

Nothing, just keeping up with the usual taking threads off piste.

    piste off?
  • A gardeners best friend. Eat loads of aphids. Hence why it’s good to grow things like marigolds with your tomatoes etc.. they act as companion plants, attract loads of ladybirds and hoverflies which in turn keep the aphids away. They do a great job doing the pest control for my chillies and mean that sprays are not needed. Working with nature is the best approach.

Never seen Firebugs before the other day down at Howletts. Thought it was some sort of fungus on the wood before taking a closer look

They are something that we are seeing a lot more of. I think they're steading expanding their range northwards. I remember we you only saw them if you went on at Mediterranean holiday. I did a ten mile walk in Essex on Friday and they were all along the route.
