30 Aug: Wolves, home, 1pm. Friendly. At the Valley. £5 adult, £2 over-65, £2 under-18. Tickets from usual website.
6 Sep: Liverpool, home, 2pm. At the Valley. £10 adult, £8 over-65, £6 under-18. Tickets from usual website.
13 Sep: Everton, away, 2pm. At Goodison Park. Away tickets not on sale yet. Home tickets are £12 adult, £6 under-18.
19 Sep (Sat): London City Lionesses, home, 12.30pm. At the Valley. £10 adult, £8 over-65, £6 under-18. Tickets from usual website (not on sale yet).
23 Sep (Weds): Brighton & Hove Albion, away, 7.45pm. At Crawley Town FC. £13 adult, £10 over-65, £10 under-21, £7 under-18, £5 under-10. On sale to home fans from 27/8. Not sure about away fans yet.
26 Sep (Sat): Manchester City, home, 1.30pm. At the Valley. £10 adult, £8 over-65, £6 under-18. Tickets from usual website (not on sale yet).

Still no sign of tickets for the away section at Everton going on sale. If it comes to it, there shouldn't be a problem with getting tickets in the home area at the last moment; it's a large ground and unlikely to sell out.

For the Wolves friendly blocks A to G are on sale, A as usual being alcohol-free. H isn't on sale so may be the away section. ST-holder's seats aren't being held back for this one, so if you particularly want your usual seat, buy asap.

Anyone with a burning desire to see us play Brighton specifically at the Amex, the league game there is on 4 October.

If anyone wants to watch the final 15 mins the games on arsenals YouTube channel we went 1-0 up loosing 3-1 now though 

Ominous is the word. I guess none of us really expected to be competing with Arsenal, but the extent of their dominance was eye-opening.

I wasn't sure what the formation was either, but it looked like Hutton and Siber were the two most advanced players in the first half. Everyone battled hard, Mason in particular sticking doggedly to her task at left-back, but it was the same story as last season in terms of being outmuscled by stronger players and not being able to hold onto the ball for very long when we did get possession. Incredibly, we took the lead after an Arsenal mistake at the back, but the tide could only be held back for so long, and an unfortunate mix-up between Whitehouse and a defender led to Stanway equalising from a narrow angle before a penalty had Arsenal 2-1 up at the break.

We made several changes in the second half, including bringing on an actual striker in Azzaro plus Davidson and Johnston, but it didn't make much difference. Arsenal's final three goals were all really good strikes, but they were also the result of players having too much time to shoot as we tired. That might be a theme if we spend so much time chasing the ball against higher-quality sides.

Of the new players who started, Ashleigh Neville at right-back impressed the most – you could see her WSL pedigree, intelligence and experience. Emily van Egmond did OK in central midfield, giving us a bit more physical presence and pouncing on the mistake to set up our goal, while Paula Partido showed the odd glimpse of skill but otherwise couldn't make much of an impact. Azzaro, Davidson and Johnston came on in the second half but didn't get the chance to influence the game in the face of the Arsenal onslaught.

As much as our results against the likes of Arsenal won't determine whether we have a chance of staying up, last night did show just how much of a step up the WSL is. More striking options are urgently needed, especially if Kenney is injured, and Sunday's friendly against Wolves now feels like a key indicator (albeit against a WSL2 side) of whether we can actually control a game, rather than just hanging in there and hoping to nick a goal. Otherwise this is going to be a long season.

A little warning for those coming to the Liverpool match on the 6th: it coincides with The Big Half half-marathon which finishes in Greenwich, so there'll be a fair bit of disruption if you come via that way.

There are also no trains through Dartford that day: Southeastern trains that stop at Charlton will run in a loop via Slade Green and Barnehurst, Thameslink runs Kentish Town to Plumstead.
