I understand that the contract was signed on Friday.  Which means that the comms team deserves credit as well as (of course) Jones and the whole management.  Because announcing it today elongates the feel-good factor beyond the weekend win at West Ham and into today.

I am very pleased.  TC could go on to be a really significant part of Charlton's further forward momentum.

But today also brings up another tantalising question: when is the next announcement.  Because, as I understand it, from an unimpeachable, impeccable source, there will be at least one more...
Are we extending Ahadme’s deal ?

Great news re TC.  Jones has put huge faith in him when others wouldn’t have and we’re getting the benefit .  Long may it continue

Simply contemplate his reputation on the non Charlton football world.
How many say ‘that Campbell at Charlton, he’s crap you don’t have to worry about him’?
  • Fantastic news, been humming and gently singing his song ever since the news broke.

    Nice!
  • Great news, especially given how he has started this season.

But I'd love to know. Did we REALLY accept a bid from Preston for him, only for TC to turn it down?

Yeah but nonetheless he did, which surprised me, so fair play to him for that.
You cant be covered in piss and try and deny you've pissed yourself.
Someone else might have pissed on him.
    I don't know what Ronnie's kinks are.

The *really* good news is that it is nothing to do with Ahadme!
  • Great news re TC, hopefully we can push on as a team now, really looking forward to tomorrow night.

    We got £500k for him?
200k and Thierry Small on a 3 week loan
Surely £250k and Small until January now, this late in the window!

Great news. As much as TC is a quite unassuming lad, I'm sure he's very happy. I reckon he was always going to sign, but agents and the likes were probably squeezing out every last penny for him, which I thoroughly support. About time Charlton paid up proper money for loyalty.

Well done TC and the owners!

I suspect it was all part of the negotiation between TC/his agent and the club. TC asking for more money, club not offering enough. TC makes noises about not signing, club accept offer from Preston knowing that TC probably doesn’t want to go there, TC then gets contract offer from Preston that he can take to Charlton and say this is what other clubs think I’m worth and then they probably meet somewhere in the middle

Amazing news! Wish TC all the best for the rest of this season - he has all he needs in his locker to hit double figures this year. Hope his mate joins him too…

Incredible news. If he continues his early-season form, we could finally be in line for a handsome payday next summer after years of mismanaging and underselling some of our best academy products.

Hopefully we’ll get a few more seasons out of a fit and firing TC but when the time eventually comes, that money can be reinvested to help finance the club’s development and, perhaps, finally give us something resembling a sustainable model.

Bring JRS in as well and we could be in for a very exciting few years.
Wonder what his 'buy-out' price is now, in his contract.
  • Fantastic news, well pleased!

Great news. At least we will get a decent fee when he goes, unless we’ve had to agree to a low get out clause to seal the deal. Let’s hope he can push on now.

I don't think it's Rocket science to work out that being allowed to be a winger/wide man as opposed to a wing back has totally transformed TC game and confidence.
The relief I felt when I realised that we were going to play 4-2-3-1 and that Billy Koumetio looks like the strong CB who can play alongside Lloyd with 2 full backs who's first job is to defend was music to my ears.

Good start but we have only just got out of Greenwich park/ Blackheath on this Marathon so don't be an arse and get ahead of our selves especially with the doom and gloom of just a few weeks ago.

    Enjoy the journey FFS 😀

Can't even begin to say how thrilled I am to see TC sign, and for 4 years!

Big season ahead for him, just hope we can keep hold of him.

We still need to enjoy him whilst we can. The lad is destined for the Premier League. Mind you, maybe he could help us get there.

Well said. And as the great man said (I can't remember the exact quote so I'll paraphrase) "There will be laughter, there will be tears, but it's all good fun."

Maybe TC wasn't going to sign if Jones persisted in playing him at LWB?

So..... that's why Nathan changed the team formation to 4-2-3-1

Well done both Charlton and TC, I’m sure there was some serious soul searching in committing to the club, especially if he wasn’t particularly feeling the love, obviously he came to a decision he’s comfortable with and seems to be making an effort to engage with the fans more knowing he had signed or was going to, something is seriously clicking with him, which I personally wasn’t sure he would put it all together, now let’s support him in the way he deserves after committing to us.
