1-0 to Man Utd at half time. They’ve dominated possession.

Anyone got the YouTube link ?
I’ll stick it up when it’s up but it’s a bit early yet for a 1pm kick off
    It’s just kicked off

Sorry lads, I thought it was 1pm.
Commentators saying it’s mainly been MU. Our keeper just made a great save before being flagged offside.
However can our keeper be offside?
He made the save but then the linesman flagged it was offside.

HT it’s 1-0. Man Utd with at least 80% possession and would guess that it could be higher. Still only 1 up so always a chance.

Wes Brown watching with Carrick now.

Did you watch it @Scoham? I struggled to pick many positives other than it’s good that our lads get exposed to such a high quality set up.

P.S. The lead commentator was getting on my nerves.

Only parts of it but agree, hard to find positives about us on the ball because Man Utd were so good at winning it back and keeping it.

Off the ball it’s obviously a good test playing a team with that quality.

Not sure how their side compares but ours was on the younger side. We didn’t have Mylona and Minto-St Aimee as they’ve been with the u21s, we had a couple of u16s starting and even more on the bench (some may be even younger), and a mixture of 1st and 2nd years making up the rest of the starting 11.

Our 1st year CB Ayden Minto-St Aimie is in the England u17 squad, along with Mishel Nduka who we lost to Arsenal last year (and has since moved to Man City).

Chizzy Ezenwata who moved to Chelsea a few years ago is in the u19 squad.

Julian Infante Chaptal another young one to make his debut with our U18s

Where’s he off to, Chelsea, Man City or Newcastle?

Wont have Ayden for much longer then
  • Yeah if they get a call up it tends to be game over

Ayden has featured (and started) in most of the U21 fixtures this season. It’s good that we’ve managed to get him on a scholarship, and that he’s not been poached before that.

Jamie Day in to replace Kevin James. Lots of senior coaching experience, brilliant for both Pearce and the U18s

Yes it feels like if any of our kids are top class by the time they're 16 then they will end up getting poached.

We need late bloomers. We need them to be good enough to make it with us, but not too good that they get poached before they can sign a contract at 17.

Whilst it's nice to see Chuks there - he is an agent now so will be sniffing around our youngsters.  No doubt at all.  Turf war between him and Jon Fortune incoming maybe.  Impossible to get a look-in at Charlton youngsters these days - complete closed shop unless you are prepared to break rules.

I thought Chuks became a scout for Shrewsbury after he retired from playing for them?

The agent thing is much more recent. His agency/the one he works for represents Nathan Asiimwe

Minto-St Aimie and our former academy player Nduka both started for England u17s today.

Despite their first team usually humble status I have always thought of the Colchester United development system as pretty good, has a good ethos for bringing on young players.
