I did think it was funny that he had an unfortunate game in a big stadium considering who was in the other goal0

Brooks made a very good save in the first half: a shot saw him dive to his right but it was blocked before it reached him and he managed to get back to his feet quickly and dive back the other way to tip the follow-up shot around the post.
However, my grandson had been watching the keepers warming up before the game and he was saying something about Brooks's hands that I didn't quite hear. When the first goal went in my grandson said "that's what I was telling you about in the warm up, shots kept going through his hands".
I wouldn't write him off after one appearance but there's certainly plenty of work that needs to be done.1 -

The concern is he is following the pattern that he has done every time he has got in the first team. A few good saves but a mistake costing us a goal every other game.
I really want him to do well for us but not sure he will be here after this season.
I just don't think it will happen for him at charlton, it may be mental thing but he does seem to have a mistake in him when playing for us.
You can't have a shaky mentally weak reat postgoalkeeper and that's exactly what Pope is. Every cross that comes in I'm worried he's going to fumble it. Maybe too many things have0 -
Presumably didn't want to risk AO getting injured so rested him. Probably for the best given how unlucky we are. Shows that our current, fit, 2nd goalie is not up to much so we need to hope Mannion actually has a knock and isn't having a massive strop at being dropped. If he is we need another keeper as backup, urgently0

He looks to have potential but also that he is not ready. We probably need to keep hold of Mannion. i don't think Mannion can have a strop, what were we supposed to do at West Ham?0

Remember, if your senior keepers are injured, under the rules you can sign a keeper on emergency loan, but right now Jones insists on having 3 senior keepers, so even if Okonkwo and Mannion were both out, we'd be forced to use Brooks.

How often are keepers injured in matches? It's not as if we were playing 1980s Wimbledon, with a giant lump targeting the keeper.Garrymanilow said:

And just as with outfield players, injuries can happen in training. The only way a keeper can practice dealing with corners and crosses, is through physical contact in a crowded penalty box. The only way a keeper can practice kicking under pressure, is to practice this in training, with the risk of muscle strains.1 -

In the last two seasons we've had injuries to Kaminski, AMB and Mannion twice. I'm sure we get more than the average amount of keeper injuries as it is, there's less risk not playing the first choice keeper and the one who might have to play gets some more experience.
