He’s a winger and like most wingers blow hot and cold. No doubt on his good days he’ll be unplayable and on other’s innocuous. With a great start under our belts and playoffs now down to 8th place, maybe the owners are thinking now is the time to push the boat out a bit. If we can seriously mount a playoff push then surely that would attract the extra investment they're looking for?

Just a hunch but I still wouldn't be surprised if we end up signing JRS. At some point a decision needs to be made for his future with only 12 months left on his contract.
All the noise about the deal being dead etc could well be playing a game of poker in public. Trying to force someone's hand to do something and change something to make a deadline day deal happen. Wouldn't surprise me if it ends up something along the lines of a loan with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met. Or maybe a very cheap price but with Palace getting a large % sell on fee.
Or maybe it really is dead but that still leaves JRS in a tricky spot after the transfer window slams shut. Another loan out to Turkey until January? not sure that suits anybody. WIOTOS and all that.3 -

I think it's a really really interesting debate that I can see both sides of. If Godden is out until say early -mid October then I can see the argument for getting a striker in. Equally if we have offers on the table for other midfielders like a JRC or Knibbs and with Carey off form I can see the argument for going for a CM/AM.Scoham said:

I think we might still bring in 3 more and will still keep talking to Holsgrove until he’s elsewhere. NJ said previously that players who are reluctant to come he has no issue with that as they’re often the quality that will push us on.Wouldn’t be shocked if Tyreese Shade is still being looked at too.0

Our problem is we are trying to get quality players relatively cheaply, so we tend to get decent players with injury issues, like Burke, Bell, Koumetie etc.SouthLincsAddick said:

I really like Danny Mac's combination of the shithousery with good care of the ball and a quietly efficient use of it. He's better than Clarke on those parameters. Clarke gets into more dangerous attacking positions, but as we know, he wastes a lot of them. Danny Mac has only done that once I think, but it was that really vicious half-volley in the 1st half against Derby, excellent technique and on target. I love him already. All that said, Harry Clarke did well for us last season, I was glad we got him in then.
I really don't like the new 25 man squad rules as they are written, as it's ridiculous that academy players like Kanu and Asiimwe count the same as a multi million pound overseas signings, because they are months (days in case of Asiimwe) over the age limit.
Having a 25 man limit AND transfer windows across the EFL is massively restrictive. For all the talk of new signings, we have an awful lot of players to shift by Tuesday, and I imagine many other clubs are in the same situation. It's turning transfer window deadline day into one of those The Apprentice selling tasks, where with 30 minutes to go they sell their products at ridiculously low prices just to get rid of the left over stock...
The 25 man cap is too low. Have a glut of injuries and you are delving into the U21's. I think it should be up to the individual clubs as to how many players they register. And if there has to be a cap then 28 or 30 seems a better figure.
A 25 man squad with hardly any injury prone players plus a few academy players would be fine.
We are just not there yet1 -

Think we will have a fair idea by Monday late what direction the RW and other signing is going….. gonna be rumours central over the next 24 hours as press and journos pick up on stuff.
Still no sign of anything else in terms of JRS speaking to people….. I do wonder if it gets to late on Monday evening if we won’t start pushing the loan with an option to buy to Palace with a big sell on. Giving him time to sort the whole agent mess out.

Really wonder what the issue was for his medical to flag up that the representation issues can’t be sorted out for a permanent transfer. He’s never had a serious injury so it is something more underlying? If there is the option to sign him on loan and sort out a permanent move later in the season or next summer, we should be all over that. So long as the issue of the medical isn’t something we are too concerned about going forward.2 -

Didn’t watch any of his games on loan last season, but I’ve always liked the look of Asiimwe. Maybe played a few games before he was really ready and made one or two mistakes but he’s another one in the “unit” category and has always looked good going forward.I know we can’t keep everyone but young players develop at different rates and with him (and Kanu) while others seem desperate to get rid of them I’d ideally give them at least one more year, either here or in loan, to see if they can prove themselves ready for our team, before we let them leave.I’ve heard lots of people I trust say he was decent vs Spurs so I think a lot of the “ain’t good enough” chat is just the usual mob who have already made their mind up despite limited evidence, either way.The same mob writing off TC and Leaburn for the last 2 seasons.11
