Would we get a development fee for Kanu at the end of the season if he goes somewhere?
I think so. I suspect it’s why we set a high fee and why we’re willing to let him go on loan. If he does well the compensation could be higher than anything we’d get this summer
    Was my thinking, makes sense.

Carey being written off after 1 poor half of football. Alli was being written off after 1 start against spurs and quickly proved those doubters wrong. Carey will be fine and I’m sure he will pop up with a goal soon and everyone will go back to loving him
He had a poor second half of last season and he’s been poor this season. I can’t see him developing the technical abilities needed to be the player we need in that role in this new system.
He was clearly knackered in the second half of last season. He’d never played that many games in his career and it showed

He hasn’t been poor this season until this game. He was absolutely fine against Derby, created our most chances and completed most dribbles. Put a big shift in at West Ham and set up a goal with his long throw. He was non-existent yesterday but the other 2 games he’s been fine

Carey is a funny one because it’s not about fluctuating performances match to match but rather half a season to half a season. At Blackpool he did v little first half of season then had a storming second half. Arrived with us and hit the ground running for half a season then hit a wall for second half. So basically roll on January before we see the next upswing?

Alan Nixon says Blackburn have asked Liverpool about loaning Harvey Elliott while he’s simultaneously agreed personal terms with Valencia. Not sure about that one Al. 🤔

Incoming wise I think we’ve had a truly sensational window probably a good winger off a 10/10 based on the value for money spent. Know some people would have liked another midfielder and striker but personally think it’s been a blessing allowing Mwamba and Leaburn to show what they can do.

On the outgoings personally am a little disappointed, comments made by Jones on the Substack makes it seem like we really didn’t get much for Karoy, Macca and Mitchell. Not getting a fee for Kanu is disgraceful and still sat here needing minimum 4 maybe 5 to get rid of isn’t ideal. Best business was probably finding someone to take Kaminski and even that’s only a loan and because he threw his toys out the pram.

Would have hoped we could have shifted better but overall it has been a great window and would be surprised if anyone wasn’t happy with the business done thus far

Me neither. When I was a kid, it was a very famous club. In the shadow of Southampton since the 1960s.

Seems like Carey has become the new scapegoat after just a few games trying to fit into a new system of play.
Without his goals last season we'd probably have been relegated.
I'm a Carey fan and I agree with you that his goals last season went a long way to helping us stay up.

I'm not going to scapegoat him but his form recently has been very poor.

I very much doubt anything is going to happen today. The final day of the window is traditionally a damp squib for us Charlton fans but we live in hope.

With a minimum of 6 transfers needed, I really, really hope you're wrong.

Poor old Apter 😂 Comes in, rightly gets player of the month for the only month he played for us. Loses his place to Bree (understandably) because he’s not a w\b as proved against Southampton and Bree is and as soon as we play his formation, everyone wants him shipped out.
Injuries normally make fans think higher of players, in this case, his time out seems to have made everyone think worse of him.

I’m not judging him against Tottenham as clearly he isn’t match fit yet and was against top level prem players.

I’m sure he’ll probably go but I feel a bit for him that he has never had the chance to show what he can do in his actual position.

It’s actually 7, 2 in 5 out although pretty sure Kanu is getting confirmed today
