I very much doubt anything is going to happen today. The final day of the window is traditionally a damp squib for us Charlton fans but we live in hope.
With a minimum of 6 transfers needed, I really, really hope you're wrong.
    What positions are this 6?

we need a RW to come in and apter out as a definite.

maybe a number 10 back up if we can move on knibbs
    6 in total , 2 in 4 out.
It’s actually 7, 2 in 5 out although pretty sure Kanu is getting confirmed today
Yeah I expect Kanu confirmed today. Maybe Doc too although there's been nothing concrete on where he's going.

Poor old Apter 😂 Comes in, rightly gets player of the month for the only month he played for us. Loses his place to Bree (understandably) because he’s not a w\b as proved against Southampton and Bree is and as soon as we play his formation, everyone wants him shipped out.
Injuries normally make fans think higher of players, in this case, his time out seems to have made everyone think worse of him.

I’m not judging him against Tottenham as clearly he isn’t match fit yet and was against top level prem players.

I’m sure he’ll probably go but I feel a bit for him that he has never had the chance to show what he can do in his actual position.
If you told a fan we were signing a player coming off half a season in L1 playing in his best position, who was on set pieces playing for one of the best attacking sides in the division and managed only 1 assist in 13 games I guarantee everyone would be losing their head.

Could this be us going for Emil Riis?

NJ wanted 3 signings, Bindon is one of them, a RW another, leaving a third who might be a striker, especially if Godden is out for a while.

Not suggesting we’re interested but why wouldn’t we be. He’s 6ft 3 ins. Was Bristol City’s top scorer last season with 12 goals and fits the bill as big striker like Leaburn that complements Godden or Kelman. Decent at holding up. Doubt it but I wouldn’t be shocked.
  • If we have more than 25 then some players won’t be registered and can’t play until at least January. Clearly that is bad for them and us as we pay them for doing nothing beyond training. So presumably we don’t have to include Sichenje in the 25 as he is unlikely to be fit by then?
  • Mixed opinions from City fans, pretty solid but feel they’ve now upgraded. Expecting him to go for £1-2m.

Riis left Preston because they didn't match his ambitions. Went to Brizzle and was their top scorer. I can't see us having a chance there  but if he did come to the league leaders we'd  be serious play offs contenders all jokes aside.

I thought it was 4 out required as Sichenje doesn’t need to be registered if he isn’t going to play before January?

He doesn’t but that’s because we’ve replaced him with Bindon already we’re still 3 over the squad limit with a further 2 signings

Riis would be a good signing imo. A good championship player. As good as leaburn is, an injury to him would be very damaging given Godden’s injury record too. Would be surprised if we don’t bring a striker in as not sure Mbick is ready just yet

Would only make sense if Mbick was going out on loan?

I don't think Godden being out injured affects too much to need another striker.

Leaburn and Mbick are currently in the lone striker role and we also have Kelman ready to come back. Only reason I can think we might want another striker is if Jones feels Mbick isn't ready yet based on what he's seen so far and gets loaned out which is difficult when trying to hold onto a lead at West Ham and then trying to lead the line away at Spurs.

I would rather any remaining budget goes on a winger, move Grant into the middle and then also spend on another midfielder.

When is Kelman back? Would be pretty unlucky if Leaburn, Kelman and Godden were all out at the same time but knowing Charlton it’s entirely possible!

If you think Riis has decent hold up you would be bitterly disappointed, he’s the most paperweight 6’3 forward I’ve ever watched play. Can hardly win a physical battle, just a player who always seems to score despite offering nothing. One of the worse forwards at the valley last season

It sounds like he’ll be back fairly soon, after the international break at the latest.

It’s really tempting to see current holes in the squad due to injury and say we need to sign players. It sounds like most of the squad will be available after that break though. As mad as it sounds when we’re 3 wins out of 3 but we kind of need to just limp through to the break with a couple of signings and then we’ll look so strong

We had two CBs pull up at the same moment against Spurs. With Charlton anything is possible. Think the current system fits a big strong player like Leaburn rather than a kelman ir Godden too. So Riis fits the bill

It’s precisely the system Kelman thrived in for Orient. We’d just need to play it long a bit less or use Grant as the target

I agree and that’s why I wouldn’t write Mbick off based on what we’ve seen so far. What we’re doing works well in playing it into Leaburn to hold up and then he’s got 3 players running off him. Mbick will be good at this role too, when he came on at West Ham we were parking the bus and just hitting long balls to him, same with the spurs game his supply was mostly aerial but he did have a couple of good moments when the ball was played into his feet.

I think Mbick will be fine once he’s a bit more up to speed and gets to start a game where we can play it into his feet with 3 from TC, Carey, Grant, Alli or the New RW running off him

Where would knibbs go? Shows how bad the £13m was last summer only kelman.

Not Charlton related but Abdul Abdulmalik is heading out to Sweden for £1.5m. A record transfer fee for a 5th tier player 😮

Whilst I agree with this stance to some extent, we stayed up so whilst their longevity is severely in doubt they helped keep us from an immediate return. First season up we had little or no draw, so the signings were going to be of lesser grade.
  • Wanted Riis when he left Preston. Would be a good signing
