whoever said he's clearly not cut out for english football is daft.  He had a muscle strain but we told him to play on and made it worse last season.

He got a knock last night, probably should have gone off but stayed on and then, on a pitch notorious for breaking players, got broken.  I'd say he is unlucky more that rubbish.
    Agreed.
Its a bit early to be writing him off yet.

Joined in January and thrown in too early because we needed him, not helped by having a player like Burke who is constantly injured. He picked up an injury early because he wasn’t in the physical condition we needed him to be as it was pre season at his previous club.

Came back and got injured again which is such a common thing in football but it ought to be looked into. Sometimes I do think medical teams listen to players too much without them giving the final say. Not saying that’s the case here at all, not at all, that’s just a side note.

Last night he gets his first start in a competitive game on a pitch that has caused several injuries to players already.

He should have come off the first time he went down, as much as we wouldn’t have wanted to, sometimes it’s not worth risking it. Get him off and protect the player, more so after Burke once again got injured the other day from doing “very little”.

Sichenje has been incredibly unfortunate and I really hope it’s not as serious as an ACL and instead it’s something a bit more manageable and shorter and more positive prognosis.

Feel he could prove to be an excellent player for us. We just need to make sure we are looking after him fully and only make sure we integrate him once they are 100% sure he’s ready. Let’s hope it’s not too long, but the likelihood is it’ll be at least 3 months (in which case, don’t register him for the first part of the season and assess again in January)

The grounds with retractable pitches like Spurs are seemingly seeing more ACL injuries than expected. Probably just a coincidence

Really tough, sounds like he’s out for the season.

Did he have an injury record before joining and of course the familiar question about signing injury prone players, Burke being a perfect example.

Should we avoid signing players like that?

I don't believe he came in with the same injury record as Burke, just been desperately unlucky I think

Poor lad. Hes had quite a journey from growing up in poverty in Kenya to getting a dream move to England, a horrible return to earth for him. I hope he comes back a lot stronger and puts on some more muscle, he’s still quite young. Would help with prevention of a future similar injury. V gutting for us obviously as I think he’s got a really high ceiling with all his attributes. It was only 15 minutes but didn’t look out of place against premier league opposition.

I was really looking forward to seeing him this season. He looked brave, tackled firmly, and was willing to take risks on the ball, whether that was carrying it or playing passes between the lines.

Good luck with your surgery and rehab, Collins. Sad this happened after ten minutes of playing alongside a fellow Kenyan friend. It would not be a surprise if the recovery ends up being twelve to eighteen months. From the pain level, it seemed possible that more structures were affected than just the ACL.

Overworked his first year and then fell to the spurs ACL curse at their pitch really feel sorry for him none of his injuries have really been his own body’s fault

he'll be like a new signing when he returns.....
  • Worried he's going to end up as a modern Cory Gibbs (albeit playing a few more games!) - someone who seemed a decent signing but we never saw much of due to injury.

The signing of Ouma should help here. Having a really good friend around when you effectively can’t do your job for 9 months+ could be invaluable

What do you mean by it being preseason at his former club? He was part way through his season, the Serbian league runs at a similar time to ours. Assume you meant they had a winter break?

I expect there was a big step up intensity though which was probably a factor.

Yes they were on a winter break. When he signed his club had been having a training camp in Turkey like ours in Slovenia

I only know of one man that's more accident prone than Burke.

Yes essentially another pre season as he was thrown in far too early out of pure necessity.

Absolutely gutted for him but hoping that the advancements in ACL reconstruction in recent years alongside the better quality rehabilitation available, he comes back strong and ready to really kick on again for the start of pre season in 2027.

Yeah hope this doesn't lead on to long-term damage, both physically and mentally.

Looked like he had real potential to be a fan favourite.

Did he grow up in poverty? I didn't know that. Haven't seen/read much about his background/early life. Would be interested to read if you've seen something?

First game of the season on it too as they didn't have a preseason friendly on it apparently

Tend to wonder whether, come a season or two’s time, there will be a class action lawsuit will be against the pitch/spurs.

sounds as if it’s caused quite a few ACL injuries amongst other dubious cases.

are the club on the case?
