According to a Charlton 'insider'  JRS failed 4 medicals (I don't know if that was at Charlton or spread around other clubs ?) .  Apparently Palace dropped their price dramatically because he was on Premier League Wages, and they had trouble giving him away, it seems no-one over here would take the risk.  It'll be interesting to see how many games he plays.

We must have been really trying for him but 4 medicals is quite a few
Not as many as 8, but equally irrelevant if it's a made up number.

Presumably, by the sound of it, at any time half our squad would fail multiple medicals each time they are tested if injuries they are carrying haven’t fully cleared up. If the medical were in the same relatively short transfer window then it could well be no big deal.

Medicals aren’t about assessing a player’s current injury, you can pass a medical while being injured. They look at longstanding issues or potential future issues. I’m guessing the latter is what teams are seeing with Rak-Sakyi, but if he’s available for free teams will take the risk

    5ummer? There's a January one first.

You don't think some JRS lovers won't be pleading for him to be recalled, so we can try again?

Never say never. He was on loan in Turkey this time last season, Palace recalled him in January and he went to Stoke.

If he was available on loan, why didn’t we bring him in through that route?

So he’s proper shit and should be loaned to league 2, that’s how it works. Right?

    Medical issues   ???
    Agent issues   ???
    NJ issues   ???

Who knows. There's a whole thread about why we didnt sign him.

Just make up a theory & go with that. I am.

Either he wasn’t at the time and Palace had no choice in the end but to resort to a loan. Or the loan fee palace would have demanded was too much to see the value for a player who no guarantee would be here in 12 months time

Are the medical and agent issues (if indeed they actually exist) not at least partially mitigated in the case of a loan?

I mean not particularly, if he couldn't pass a medical, doesn't matter if it's a permanent or a temporary deal.

If he is being misrepresented by his agent, that affects all transfers too unfortunately.

I think, unless he has a storming season in Turkey, this one's dead in the water

Of course it matters. A medical isn’t “is this player injured” it’s assessing the risk of future injury. That risk is a lot less if he’s on a temporary contract for 9 months where you’re potentially paying a % of wages rather than when you’re paying a fee and giving him a 4 year contract
