My brother-in-law is starting to think about a house extension (which will require planning permission) - any recommendations for Architects? He's in the Dartford/Wilmington area. Thanks all!

- Form a partnership with another architect, it looks so much more professional than going solo.
- Get yourself affiliated to the Royal Institute of Architects.
- Design your own office space and use that to showcase your work.
- Build a portfolio of work you have done.
- If all that fails to bring in sufficient business, place a small ad in the Exchange & Mart.

We used Gerry at https://ga-architecture.co.uk when we had our 2 story back/side wrap round extension done and we was really pleased with the designs he came up with for us. He also designed my brother-in-laws house rebuild, a couple of our neighbours designs too. He was very good.1

I used a guy called Alan Penfold from Penfold Project Services. He came from a recommendation from a friend and I'm happy to recommend as well.
He's a bit strange but can't fault the work, the challenge he gave us and ultimately results. Based Meopham way.1 -
A two-story backside wrap? I hate to think what your browser history looks like.JohnBoyUK said:We used Gerry at https://ga-architecture.co.uk when we had our 2 story back/side wrap round extension done and we was really pleased with the designs he came up with for us. I'd start with 'All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us' and then move onto 'Holy Hell'. 'For Those That Wish To Exist' as a good later album.1

I drew my own, it’s not that difficult if you have access to a drawing package like AutoCad. Unless it’s something like a grand design I don’t think it’s worth the effort and expense. Basically I looked on the Bromley planning portal at what others had done with similar houses and adapted them to suit. Nothing too complicated, double height rear extension. I got planning permission and then lost interest a bought a bigger house.2
