The award instead goes to Vitor Matos of Swansea who accumulated seven points from a possible nine during the month of August.

    The only team in the Championship to have a 100 percent record in August and it goes to someone else. 

    Danny Wilson, Don Goodman and Ivor Davies have some explaining to do on what should have been a shoe in decision for last month

    Good, we don't need the added attention or curse of the manager or the month awards, we need get as many points on the board as early as possible!

    I don’t buy into all superstitious mumbo jumbo. Bowyer won the Award for the month of April in 2019 and later on May we were promoted to the Championship.

    It was not exactly a difficult decision for August

    That is ridiculous. The bookies' relegation favourite wins every game, including away to the favourite for the title and it goes to a manager that picked up less points. Just baffling.

    Strange concept I know, but notice that there is nothing on the award, or on the articles, about "August" - I can only presume they have some weird approach now where its a set number of games, as I also think that to give an award for just three games one month, to five games (September) the next. 

    Id still love to hear the arguments for Matos getting it though, as even if you include the West Brom game (so its 4-games month one, 4-games month two, blah blah blah), we've remained undefeated against two teams in the top six... Whereas Swansea's wins have been against Stoke, Derby and Watford.

    It’s an EFL award so I imagine the disrespect shown to their cup competition may have come under consideration

    EFL website literally says August.

    Swansea City head coach Vitor Matos has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for August.

    Building on last season’s progress, time on the training ground has allowed Matos to instil a greater control in matches, particularly away from home. Swansea’s seven points from three unbeaten games included victories at Stoke and Derby.

    Matos said: “It is very nice to receive this award, but it is not just an award for me, it is an award for everyone in our staff.

    “We have had a good start to the season and, although we know there is a long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead, that is down to the efforts of everyone involved in our first-team and football operation.

    “The amount of love and care they show to the players is so important, and so I want to say thank you to every single one of them and dedicate this award to them.”

    Danny Wilson chairs the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month judging panel.

    He said: “Two strong wins away from home at Stoke and Derby gave Vitor a a great start to his first full season at Swansea. Three unbeaten games will give them confidence they can kick on from last season.”

    Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Swansea improved steadily last season under Vitor Matos and it’s clear that a summer break and plenty of time on the training ground has only enhanced his influence on the team.

    “They started really strongly in August picking up seven points from three unbeaten games.”

    Only award we need is to stay in the Champ and finish higher than last season.

    - lost to Birmingham in the cup
    - Beat Derby and Stoke
    - Drew to Sheffield Utd

    2 wins, 1 defeat, 1 draw


    Charlton August record

    - win v Cheltenham in the cup
    - beat West Ham, Preston and Derby
    - Lost to Spurs in the cup

    4 wins, 1 defeat (to a PL team)

    - We both beat Derby.
    - They beat Stoke to us beating West Ham. 
    - They drew with Sheffield United to us beating Preston. 
    - The award certainly isn't results based!

    Indeed. When you see that one of the 'judges' is Don Goodman,a journeyman footballer, its credibility is in question
