    I liked him, probably more than most on here did before the Hull game, but now that we look like we're playing a different way I'm not devastated that we haven't brought him back. He was a positive runner but he wasn't that quick. What I liked about him most was his diligence with his tracking back and his directness from those deeper positions. He put in the difficult running at RWB that Apter couldn't be bothered to and it made a big difference. If we're going to be playing with wingers though then we seem to be looking more at searing pace than discipline on the flank so I'd rather have a faster player than someone who is a very decent option as an attacking wingback. I do think that his performance against Hull brought with it a little bit too much of a reaction from the fanbase in terms of snapping him up. If we'd brought in a proper first choice RWB and Fev as a backup to him I would have said that was great business but having him and Apter as the options on the wing in a 4231 wouldn't have been that exciting a prospect for me

    I liked him and I also thought he was pretty rapid. His run from defense to attack vs Hull will stick long in the memory,

    He is one of those who could turn out to be a great signing or a so so one. That applies to most signings at this level.

    Personally, would have liked to have him as an option as a winger on both sides, especially as we decided we wanted to dry our powder even further. 

    Remembering his goals at the Valley, am sure he would have buried at least one of those that Ali had on Saturday.

    If we had known that we wouldn't sign JRS, I wonder if we would have signed Fevrier instead of Alli?

    Not the greatest player in his position, but at least he likes playing on the right, and instead by signing Alli and Nkeng we've ended up with FOUR right footed players who like cutting in from the left.

    I’m pretty confident Nkeng will be a better player than Fevrier in the future. Yes we need a ready now option there and it’s annoying we didn’t get one this summer, but I don’t think committing long term to Fevrier was the right move

    Nkeng is another player who prefers playing on the left though. We only have one left footed winger, who prefers to play on the right, and that's Apter.

    I still wonder why we signed Alli. Was he meant to be a replacement for TC, if TC didn't sign a new contract?

    Hindsight is a funny thing, considering we want to progress we probably made the right decision not signing any of the players from Jan in the end including Fevrier.

    But considering we ended up spending 1-1.5M on Alli, 800k on Nkeng. I’d much rather have picked up Fevrier for 500k than either of those 2 in our current situation, if we had signed a proper RW don’t think we would be having this discussion

    I think we do know this. Nkeng won’t be ready yet and I don’t think we will see much of him this season, other than some sub appearances. I’d be surprised if he starts any league games unless we are safe with nothing to play for nearer the end of the season

    Nkeng feels more like a replacement/upgrade for Dixon rather than an alternative to signing Fevrier or JRS.

    I think Nkeng is our TC replacement, for 2 years time. If TC carries on improving then we will probably sell him for a decent fee and by then Nkeng will hopefully be ready to step up

    NJ essentially has said we still wanted to sign a RW despite the signing of NKeng.  To me NKeng is a long term TC replacement.  If TC continues to do well and we get big money in the summer. It's what well managed clubs do.
    The shame is we missed out on a proper RW.  I assume Alli was the Apter replacement (ie second choice RW) but as we didn't get a proper RW, Apter has stayed.

    To my mind, we've signed Nkeng because he is under 21 and would not be counted in a 25-man squad.

     We needed another winger, but the 25-man squad is full and there is no space for a more senior player.

    For all the the people who wanted Fevrier, while he had an assist last week,  the general consensus from their fans is that he has been pretty anonymous in limited playing time this year.

    True but considering our current options are Apter who Jones doesn’t rate and come off a poor L1 loan, Grant who at 28 is playing off the right for the 1st time in his career and Alli who is just average at best Nkeng must be a long way off to not even get a chance. 

    Passing on Fevrier wasn’t a mistake not getting any natural decent RW was the issue

    Too early to say on Nkeng, being a young player stepping up a level they might be planning to bring him in more slowly, give him
    more time in training, get used to how we play, what’s expected of him etc.

    They obviously rate him high enough to bring him in, make him part of the first team squad and put him on the bench. We don’t have the budget to pay out significant (for us) fees for u21 signings (hence Tiitinen initially joining on loan).
