Timothy Ouma signs on a season long loan

We won't terminate his loan before January because we can't replace him, we probably aren't allowed to anywaymart77 said:Ouma looks to have been an incoming after we spent so long pursuing Holsgrove. I don’t think Ouma has had the fairest of rubs but I think we’ll go back for Holsgrove and JRS in Ouma will depart. I wouldn’t be shocked to see an earlier departure if he was late back from international duty again.0 -
Bindon has played 100+ games in English football and he’s been just as bad, but not had his mistakes punished until today.
He must be fucking low on morale, we need to get behind him. We’re better than just throwing him to the wolves.19 -
Isn't Gough a CM? Wonder if we recall him in Jan and cancel Ouma if there is not a material improvement between them and now. Too early for that now though.0

Gough has been injured for weeks too.Athletico Charlton said:Isn't Gough a CM? Wonder if we recall him in Jan and cancel Ouma if there is not a material improvement between them and now. Too early for that now though.1 -
Sorry but I’m not seeing why we got him in.1

Hoping a few weeks at home might give him some confidence0

Someone said earlier that Bindon has 100+ games in English football and has played regularly at International Level, imo he has been awful and with that level of experience should be facing far more criticism, but there seems to be a quite an unpleasant eagerness to pile on with Ouma.
He is a young bloke finding his way in a new country, playing in a league that is completely different to anything he would have experienced before and has seen his best mate and probably someone who would be a big help for him on the pitch sustain a season ending injury.
Not very much has gone in his favour so far, he should never have started at Stoke and should have been given more time to settle/get up to speed. For me people made their minds up after the Spurs game and have been at him ever since.
He certainly hasn't been great, but some of the criticism is way over the top. Looking at the player marks thread and seeing people marking him lower than Alli and Bindon says it all. As a fanbase we love some one to 'hate'.
Not giving up on him yet as in flashes he has looked decent. His minutes have largely come in games where the team as a whole have struggled and that certainly isn't going to help him settle.
Jones has not managed him well at all and continually chucking him in at the deep end is not going to get the best out of him.16 -
Said after stoke he has a touch of Amdy Faye about him. Haven’t seen much from him in the same way sichenje clearly had immense bums on seats quality.0

Send him back and sack whoever scouted him. We will talk about him in 10 years time with the other comically bad players we've had over the years1

There are comparisons to be made between the two but the difference is that Faye could play football but just hid for most of the game , while Ouma tries to get involved but doesn’t look like he’s ever played professional Football before .Diebythesword said:Said after stoke he has a touch of Amdy Faye about him. There are mistakes, and then there is signing this competition winner masquerading as a professional footballer. He is so clearly out of his depth it is insane. Can't trust that scout's judgement imo.fenaddick said:

I doubt it was just one persons decision to sign him.Croydon said:

A very reasoned post, I agree completely with every word. Well said.Clem_Snide said:Someone said earlier that Bindon has 100+ games in English football and has played regularly at International Level, imo he has been awful and with that level of experience should be facing far more criticism, but there seems to be a quite an unpleasant eagerness to pile on with Ouma.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but for discussion sake how’s this guy played in the Swedish and Polish top flight. It’s not like Charlton v Cardiff is pinnacle football. Amazes me how footballers can’t transfer their skill.Croydon said:

Anderson head and shoulders above Oumas…think that was a mistake selling him….but really other than maybe Carey last season do we have a CM who can beat a player and take a shot on goal…like Maylon today….Skipp and Cov definitely no…2

One major difference is Bindon had to brought in an emergency as we lost 3 centre halfs in 24 hours.Clem_Snide said:Someone said earlier that Bindon has 100+ games in English football and has played regularly at International Level, imo he has been awful and with that level of experience should be facing far more criticism, but there seems to be a quite an unpleasant eagerness to pile on with Ouma.

Ouma was signed after the club claimed we have watched him for a long time. And at presant (although he may improve) is worse than both Anderson and Doc who have been pushed out for him6 -
No idea mate. I can't buy into the whole 'charltonised' thing as if we're genuinely cursed. Are those leagues just a bit naff?ValleyGary said:

Not filled with confidence with Binden, but Ouma has looked off the pace in the few games I’ve seen. Need improvement from both if they’re to play a big part this season. I’ve not given up hope with either, but I don’t feel positive with them in the lineup at the moment.0

This in multiple of spades.Garrymanilow said:Funny things football fans. After two seasons of complaining about Docherty quite a number of people got very excited about Ouma based on some YouTube videos and write-ups. Now a couple of games into a difficult adjustment period and it’s all asking who scouted him and what they could possibly have seen (despite loving what they saw initially) and asking how we could possibly have done this to Saint Greg (who was getting dog’s abuse most match threads). Fascinating stuff
Also, regardless of whether he succeeds or not.1 -

Bang on the money 5 weeks ago! I wonder if NJ had the same concerns?LargeAddick said:He could be great, he could be shit. Time will tell. Worries me that Sparta Prague have now loaned him out two seasons on the trot after paying decent money for him. Why? I’m also concerned with Chalobah’s fitness record. I think too many are getting carried away that we’ve solved our midfield issues with these two signings. Could be back to Doc and Cov before long. Not being negative, just concerned, one has a dubious discipline record and is relatively inexperienced, the other injury prone.0 -
Best part about this signing was getting him on a loan not a permanent.Physically think he actually looks really good but his understanding of the game and passing with the ball is Sunday league level2

A young lad moving to a new country, no familiar faces (Collins injury didn’t help with that), new training methods, new culture, etc. it will take a bit of time for him to settle
away from the training ground, is he living in a hotel, on his own or with a family. He might be struggling.
on the pitch, he definitely needs to up his game.
although he was poor, at least he tried to pass the ball forward and not sideways or backward. The ball to Danny Mac when Danny Mac just stood there does look poor. However, as a team we are so static and lack movement, that should have been a great ball. Danny Mac screamed at him but he should be moving!
he also pointed and told grant to follow his man, grant didn’t and then shouted at him.
he played the ball 5 yards in front of skipp. Skipp didn’t move and shouted at him.
the rest of the game, he was poor but the lack of movement in the team is a worry10 -
He is quick and physical. Perhaps he should be tried as RB or RWB where the demands of the game are more simple. A season of getting used to the game and move him back into midfield.
I give you Kisch.2 -
To be fair I was shouting at him a lot as well.Todds_right_hook said:A young lad moving to a new country, no familiar faces (Collins injury didn’t help with that), new training methods, new culture, etc. it will take a bit of time for him to settle

From what we have seen so far I wouldn’t want to give him 1 year let alone 2. If we have an option to send him back in Jan we should probably look at it and spend some money on a better midfielderWhinger said:He is quick and physical. We shouldn’t be so quick to judge players based on their priors, nor the ones that have only played 120 minutes of football for us.6
