Dentists Chairs & 'Man Tooth'

Upper jaw abscess is the worse pain known to man. It actually killed Hugo Boss.
I had a few hours in the chair with one a few years ago, very painful but I'm made of better stuff than old Nazi Hugo.0 -
Toothache can bring the strongest of men to their knees.
I remember one particularly bad case a few years ago which resulted in an extremely painful root canal to sort. Now either the dentist didnt use enough anasthetic or something else, but the pain was so bad, I was literallty squeezing the (extremely hot) assistants hand for support. It was then I contorted up so much I farted out loud like a banshee whilst crying on the chair.4 -

So far @LargeAddick is the only one who shares my view of avoiding this operation. I’m looking for those of you out there that have got broken teeth yet have survived years without their face becoming the size of a balloon and ending up in A and E.Mine’s been broken in stages over the last 30 odd years so it might be better to leave well alone. I could go ahead with the op and get a post op infection. Or they could bugger my sinus as it’s very close.0

We're only thinking of you Arsene, and giving honest opinions, but you must do what you feel is best for you mate...1

Get it sorted @Arsenetatters. They wouldn't be offering you the op if it wasn't necessary. And I'm saying this as a nervous patient - I had a bunch of teeth out at Guys Dental School pre Covid, one of which probably wouldn't have needed to come out if I hadn't have been putting off dealing with the neighbouring tooth for a while.ETA For an alternative to the Marathon Man clip there's this, the memory of which caused me to get a fit of the giggles while the gas and air was kicking in during one of the sessions, which took some explaining to the dentist1

They did say there was two choices- leave it or take it out. They said some choose to leave it.aliwibble said:Get it sorted @Arsenetatters. I’m just at the ‘leave well alone stage right now. Thanks for your thoughts folks x3 -
As there has been no league football involving Charlton for the last few weeks I had a scan through the topics recently. I came across this beauty. Was sorry to hear of your experience mate, but it gave me and the Mrs our best laugh for ages, still get a picture of an angry Dentist slapping a painridden youngster (nowadays he would have been struck off). Thanks again mate brilliant contribution!AddickUpNorth said:Have a morbid fear of dentists and haven't been for so much as a check up since I was seventeen. I'm three weeks off forty! Stems from the bastard devil dentist I had as a kid. At seven I had to have five teeth out and nearly choked on my own blood. Then at eight when needing a filling he did the procedure without anaesthetic and to top it all he cuffed me round the head when I squealed cos he hit the nerve. Left me scarred I tell you. He eventually had a breakdown and last I heard he was an alcoholic wreck. No excuse for the hell he put me through though.0 -
I don’t think @LargeAddick ( or myself for that matter) is the person to be taking advice from on this. Neither of us has even ever had one filling. We’re specialists on foot problems but not teeth.Arsenetatters said:So far @LargeAddick is the only one who shares my view of avoiding this operation.
