Football is in a whole world of trouble

That we all know, but this BBC report makes for frightening reading:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c6vgx70pzq1jo

Something has to change because at some point foreign investment and money will look outside of football and elsewhere and then the entire pyramid outside of the Prem could collapse. It doesnt take a genius to know that, take away the money which fills a £10m hole in our books every year, and the result doesnt bear thinking about.

I think we will see some seismic changes to the way the sport is structured in England over the course of the next few years.

Without people prepared to pay a fortune for TV subscriptions, the Prem will collapse, too.

Very good piece on 5 live drivetime show on this. The regulator chairman sounds a decent guy who won't take crap. Hopefully this means charltons sustainable approach is the future; in the sense others will follow it and we wont be so far behind!

Football has been on a whole world of trouble and about to collapse for about 25 years now, and never seems to be any closer

Problem is owners who think like this and drive clubs to the edge or worse.

There are clubs in the EFL outspending their income BEFORE you take into account player wages. That’s totally unsustainable

Football pretty much needs to collapse at this stage... An absolute reset from top to bottom - Sadly it will involve a lot of regular people losing their jobs, which is the main reason why it cant happen.

This thread could give "Pubs, and the demise of." a run for its money.

I think it'll go the other way completely. I don't think we're too far away from a global 'Netflix for football' type subscription service for the Premier league. I'm actually surprised we don't have it already.

If and when that comes in, tv money will skyrocket even further and PL clubs will have even more money.

    100%

And you'll post the same thing in another 25 years.
