Looks like you're at the Valley, unless you're sleeping in a broom cupboard?

I reckon we'll play Chalobah and Godden in March. Then 2 weeks international break.

I don't mind that starting 11. I did want us to go back to the 4 because while 352 is tempting when we're in a bit of a spiral it robs us of the impetus TC offers and has been disastrous for Grant as well. Edwards is a risk given his last outing so Mesik can be a bit annoyed but putting Ramsay as a proper full back and dropping McNamara is good. It's past time for Kelman to get a go but JRC is a bold choice in the deeper role. He looked like coming on in the 10 was his purpose to offset his lack of mobility so he's going to have to really show something today, especially as we can't retreat into the more defensive setup with no Skipp there. I feel for Skipp, I reckon Jones has left him out because it all got a bit toxic against Watford, given he actually played better than Coventry. Skipp does more defensive work than Coventry so there really is pressure on JRC to contribute in both directions today. Carey coming back in is about right as well, let's hope he wakes up. Lots of opportunities for players who haven't started the season well, let's hope they take them

Happiness only exists outside of the Charlton Athletic Football Club.

The CM area reads like a bit of a hole in the team sheet to me, but I hope to be proved wrong.
We've chosen a team to pass as slickly as the pitch will be in the rain!

I keep seeing people say JRC can’t play the deeper role as he’s too slow. Like Skipp is Justin Gatlin

Thinking about it more I'm kind of surprised it's not Bell at LB. I like Mesik a lot but other than that excellent cross for Leaburn he was pretty poor defensively against Watford and got given the run around at times. If you're in the 4 maybe you want a more defensively sound structure and Edwards obviously needs to play games to get back up to speed but given it's a home game where we haven't won in 8 I would have guessed Jones would try and get that stability from a more match-practiced Bell rather than Edwards. I guess Jones really wants Edwards back and firing as soon as possible and this is the gamble

Fair play to Jones for being bold, not sure I would have dropped Mesik, but other than that the changes are understandable.

Does feel as though we’re desperately grasping for some straws though rather than this genuinely being a XI that we have enormous faith in.

He does more slide tackles than Coventry, because he doesn't have Coventry's engine and doesn't take up the right positions in the first place. Other than that? Come on.

BDL has just quizzed the expert panel (the mascots) on what they think the score will be today.

In a supreme exercise of naïve optimism trumping decades-long reality, all of them went for Charlton to win 2-0.

Glad he’s changed it up, surprised Edwards and Carey think Mesik and Knibbs would be better but we’ll see, need a result today.

It's mobility rather than speed. Skipp isn't particularly quick in a sprint but he gets around the pitch, he's always close to his man and he puts a lot of tackles in. JRC tends to get stranded and ends up trailing behind the player he should be challenging. He's slow getting round the pitch and into the correct defensive positions, and he's quite easily passed around. Hopefully not today though

Just making his debut would be enough of a treat for the 14-year-old.

At least he's got half-term to recover from the excitement

He got one last week, put in a perfect cross for Leaburn and a through ball for Kelman. Idk what he did wrong really

  • Not a fan of playing 2 holding midfielders. I don't think it works but looks like jones is sticking to it.

I really hope we win today.   Lose this game & I think the fanbase may start to turn

I like this line up. Would have gone with a different left back but also thought Mesik was very poor at Watford so can’t really complain about being dropped

He was good going forward but defensively the Watford wing back had him all game long. Brooks is a dangerous player on their right so I think we’ve picked our best 1v1 defensive left back to cope with it
