    Well done Harry! Legend!

Im sure he had a few loans early on where no one had a clue he would win a ballon d’or, probably looked a bit slow then as well…. Shows we should give youngsters a chance and persevere 😉

Brilliant news made better by the sour faces of Mbappe and Yamal, whose PR agents worked over time leading up to this.

As Harry Kane says “Work had in silence. Let success be your noise”

Nine years ago, I asked the question as to whether Kane would be better than Shearer. We've known that answer for a while.

The biggest thing for me, though, would be for any youngster to look at his early career and see where he came from. Rejected by Arsenal, he's become not just England's greatest striker but voted the best current player in the world. Even better, he's actually promoting that on social media. Rejection can be simply another opportunity.

The ones I feel sorry for are those poor Arsenal fans. For years they've been missing that one vital cog. A world class striker. Serves the club right!!!

Still quite unbelievable that all those years ago little old Charlton signed a winner of this
More impressive still - I think - is that Charlton's Academy/Centre of Excellence has produced shortlisted players in the last three seasons: Ademola Lookman and Alessia Russo.

Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!

Don't wait until he retires - come on Charlie, the New Year's Honours should have a Knighthood for Harry as the first on the list. Even better than that - how wonderful would it be for William as Patron of the FA to present Harry with his 126th cap and Knight him there and then on the pitch.

I'll be at Wembley next month for the Croatia game - what a reception he will get (he always does) when he wins his record cap, now topped off by being recognised as the best current footballer in the world. Not just that - a true role model.

Magnificent achievement for England's greatest ever striker - and so apt that he was presented with the honour by R9, the GOAT striker.

    Arise Sir Harry.

The thing the I like best about Kane is he has wrung every last drop out of the talent he was given. He’s not blessed with incredible pace, athleticism, or natural skill like some of his compatriots at the top or the current World game, but he’s clearly worked tirelessly at every facet of his game to make himself as complete as he can be. No silly controversies in his personal life, feet on the ground, family man - I see him as kind of Football’s equivalent of Andy Murray. If by some miracle we do win this tournament, no one can really argue he doesn’t deserve it.
Not denying hes worked incredibly hard but to say he's not blessed with natural skill I think does him a disservice. He has incredible vision, range of passing and finishing ability. That is gonna be in no small part down to natural talent.
And awareness of the game,  it would be nice if some of players showed some awareness..

He is up there with the best UK players of the sixties, the true golden generation. Well done Kane, he has been one of Europe's top players for a few seasons now.

Partly agree - until Harry came along Greaves was the best England striker I have ever seen, but Harry is a bit more than up there with him, he is the best.

I was thinking of the Best players in England, so also include George Best.

So deserved, not just a great footballer, also seems to be a proper gent.
He's done more good for Anglo/German relations than any host of polticians
We'll sure miss him when he's retired

They might be feeling great now but Arsenal did go 22 years between winning the top flight trophy - the longest in their history. They would have won the PL with Kane and probably a few other trophies too.

Am i missing something? How is he still 8/13 to win SPOTY? I just went to lump on thinking was going to be max better a tenner or something and it let me, surely this is free money?

Richly deserved - he's performed brilliantly for club and country for so many seasons.

A great person and ambassador for the game as well. I remember a few years ago he became Orient's shirt sponsor, having played his first professional games for them during his initial loan.

Kane should win it for sure but that all depends on whether there are more football loving voters than a quadruple gold medallist female athlete in the European Championships. Until yesterday, Amy Hunt was favourite and at one point hit 1.55 (8/15 approx) on Betfair. The other thing to consider is that the previous four winners prior to McIlroy last year, were all female including, of course, Keely Hodgkinson who saw off Jude Bellingham, Joe Root and Luke Littler.

As I say, Kane should win it but I'm not sure I'd be getting on at the current 1.73.

Well done Harry. Really didn't think he'd get it for all those biased reasons.

Best ambassador for Anglo/German relations since Stan Boardman.
