Yeah exactly, feels crazy to be shocked at the death of an 86-year-old but it did feel like he was never going to pass on.

For all of the incredible acting work he did, my favourite Patrick Stewart video will always be the quadruple take masterclass...

I met both Walter Koenig and Patrick Stewart at conventions, both lovely people, absolutely gutted.

Brilliant, versatile, actor.  Loved him in Star Trek - Next Generation and memorable cameo in Frasier as a gay composer.  Will be sadly missed.  RIP.

Such a great actor. For all the serious and brilliant roles, nobody ever made me laugh as much as that scene in Extras

My dad worked for the publishing company that published the star trek books. So from that I had the privilege of meeting the whole cast of star trek once when I was a kid at one of those sci-fi conventions. Patrick was such a gent. Signed autographs. Spoke to fans with real passion and had a smile that was radiant. A great actor with Shakespearian quality and knew how to look good in tights.
    RIP Captain Picard

I've just ordered the DVD of I,Claudius on the back of this news, he had hair in that strangely enough. One of the greatest things he and the BBC ever did.

We did Julius Caesar at school, and watched an old 70s production of it - my main memories are everyone saying:

    - Is that Patrick Stewart with hair?
    -
    That's Jim from EastEnders
    - Oh my God, it's Geoffrey from The Fresh Prince!!

A life very well lived, was never a Star Trek fan but he was brilliant in X-Men (and Extras).  RIP.

I worked with Patrick when I played a leading role in Yonadab , at the National Theatre, along with Tony Head and the great Alan Bates and now sadly all gone. Peter
