Charity Fundraising for November - Will's 5k A Day
Hello Everyone
(Feel free to delete if not allowed)
During November I'll be attempting to run 5k EVERY day in order to raise money for Andy's Man Club
ANDYSMANCLUB has free support groups nationwide, running every Monday from 7PM except bank holidays. In these groups, men can open up about the storms affecting their lives in a safe, judgement-free and non-clinical environment. The clubs are designed to be free of pressure, there is no obligation for men to speak, they can simply listen if they wish. With thousands of men using their sessions every week, and an army of volunteers on board, the movement is continuing to grow week-by-week. They firmly believe in the power of talking and that #ItsOkayToTalk.
The aim of the club is to provide men with a safe space where they feel comfortable to talk and open up about their experiences in a room free of judgment.
The website is here if you want to read more about them, or if you know someone who might benefit
This group were there for me during some of my darker times over the previous year and helped me. I did a similar challenge last year as a way to reset myself. This year I want to do it for a good cause and my way of saying Thank You. Hopefully my calf muscle will let me do it this year. Currently on my 4th Day and no issues yet.
I'm aiming for 5k a day (or 150k in November) but will adjust it if my calf plays up. I was going to run 1k for every goal and Win Charlton had in November, but i actually want to do some running this month 😊 . I was going to do Movember too but if anyone saw my bare face last year, you know it's not a pretty sight (and I look like a Geography Teacher). I’ve set myself a target of £500 to raise and the donation link is at the bottom of this email
I also discovered that the Just Giving page itself tracks my Strava too (though its showing both my Strava and my Fitbit tracking so its looking like I’m doing twice as much as I actually am 😊. )
And remember #ItsOkayToTalk
Thank you
Will

Well done Will. Any running challenge for charity will always get my support, especially for such a good cause. Personally, hadn’t heard of this but it sounds amazing and it’s so good that things like this exist. 5k per day will be tough. Might not sound a long distance but to mentally commit to that each day will be a great challenge. Good luck and look forward to hearing you’ve smashed it.1
