    Elliot - 6 - Didn't have to do a great deal.
Omozusi - 6 - still undecided on him, good one min, crap the next.
Llera - 6.5 - Won headers as you would expect.
Semedo - 6.5 - slightly out of position but did well to cover.
Basey - 5 - Needs to stop taking people on, gave the ball away too much.
Sam - 7 - Thought he caused problems when on the ball. Stutters too much though.
Spring - 6 - Not one of his better games for us. Goes down very easily.
Bailey - 8 - Easily our best player currently, created all attacking play. Good pen.
    Wagstaff - 5 - Couldn't get into the game.
A Sodje - 6 - Probably tired from Swindon, didn't make any runs when Dickson was providing perfect flick ons.
Dickson - 7.5 - Best game i've seen him play for us, different attitude, won so many headers with big leaps, unlucky with lob and won the pen.
Shelvey - 6 - Looked like he sparked the team into life when he came on but drifted out the game.

  • Elliot - 6. Do wish he'd come out for croses more, and needs to work harder on setting up a wall without a gaping hole
Omozusi - 5. Not competent defensively
Llera - 7. Can't fault commitment. Leads with arms a bit too much.
Semedo - 7. Did all he could. Shame re booking.
Basey - 6. Caught for pace a couple of times. Crossing not as strong as can be.
Sam - 8. Key outlet for our creativity.
Spring - 5. Would have helped if he could stand up.
Bailey - 7. Quiet first half. Refused to go to left when Jonjo came on? OK pen, but silly free kick in last minute.
Wagstaff - 6. Quiet, but we rarely played down that wing.
A Sodje - 5. Did very little, and lacks understanding with Dicko.
Dickson - 8, Keep that up and we do have a potential star.
Shelvey - 6. Little chance to make much impact.

  • Elliot - 7 Did nothing wrong
    Omozusi - 7 good enough
    Llera - 7.5 impressive
Semedo - 7.5 did well, a bit unlucky to be booked for his lunge.
Basey - 6 Why was he trying to outpace their full back?
Sam - 6 usual frustrating performance. Not enough good crosses
    Spring - 7 tidy
Bailey - 9 heartbeat of team
Wagstaff - 5 better as an impact sub for Sam
A Sodje - 6 Combined quite well with Dicko
Dickson - 7 unlucky with efforts on goal
Shelvey - 6.5 Our purple patch started when he came on.
  • Elliot - 6 Not much to do really
Omozusi - 7 Solid enough, tried to get something overlaps going with Sam but Lloyd was always double marked. Gave them very little down his side
Llera - 6.5 could have done better but was up against some big CFs. Couldn't see properly but looked like he could have been at fault for the goal
Semedo - 7 tidy but unspectacular
Basey - 6 Was left very exposed as Brentford switch play well wing to wing. got little cover from Waggy and none from Shelvey. Didn't exploit opportunities he had to get behind them and crosses often hit their first man
Sam - 7 Double marked but shone in one purple patch between the two goals.
Spring - 5.5 not a good game, slipped at lot in possesion and didn't move the ball quickly enough
Bailey - 7 Hard work drove us forward and think it was his ball for the pen? Defensively had a lot to do and did it. Not at his best creatively or with free kicks
Wagstaff - 6 Got little change out of his full back
A Sodje - 5.5 Defensively did well but ball rarely stuck with him and wasted a good chance to score first half
Dickson - 7 Bright and troubled them all the time he was on. Won the pen but should have done better (IMHO from 100 yards away) when one on one with the keeper and lobbed wide. Very pleased to see him closing down the CHs but did stray off side. Will look forward to seeing him with Burton.
Shelvey - 6 Kept coming into a crowded centre of the pitch and left Basey with little options. Not sure if he was meant to be in the middle or on the left but didn't have a huge impact. Hard working as ever.

Parky 7 Had to put out a patched up team against a side who have beaten Col U and drawn with Leeds in recent weeks at home. Didn't understand the subbing of Dickson for McKenzie. Sodje's height could have been replaced by Mcleod's IMHO and Dickson left on.

Brentford. Very tidy and moved the ball well on their tight pitch. Doubled up to eliminate the threat of Sam and dealt with all out crosses into the box. With out Youga to get behind them and Burton to hold and move the ball on the edge of their box we struggled to break them down.

Yellow card count now goes up to 10 before a suspension (other than Semedo where it is 8)
Need to get the injured back, make a decision of the futures of A sodje and Mooney and get another CH in ASAP.

  • Elliott 6.5 - Alright....and a good quick throw out to Sam late on. Be nice to think he could play 500 games for the club...he's the type who could.
Omozusi 7.5 - Won almost every header he went for. Cleared his lines and got forward well. Work needed on crossing technique and he'd be the business at this level.
Basey 7 - Did his fair share of donkey work and did his best unsupported in the latter stages as we concentrated our resources on the opposite wing.
Llera 7 - Cleared his lines well with his feet but not as dominant in the air as he should be. Misjudged the flight of the ball a lot but was, as ever, committed and epitomised current team spirit. Important team member.
Semedo 7 - Never too far away from where he should have been. Good replacement for Dailly.
Sam 7 - Heavily marked but still played brilliant ball for Dickson's lob. Looked tired by the end but crucial to the team.
Bailey 8 - Best player on the field. B's mates in pub really rated him....and rightly so.
Spring 6 - Disciplined but two hard games in a few days (and little prior match practice) took their toll by the end.
Wagstaff 4 - Really nice lad and all that, but he's not up to playing in a derby match from the start. Could have been subbed after 20 mins. Know he's not a left winger but he's not ready to take Sam's place yet on the right, so should have been sub.
Sodje 6 - Won his share of flicks but doesn't look like scoring. Sadly, reminds me a bit of Mike Small in terms of mobility. But tried hard and we needed his physical presence against an aerially dominant Bees side.
Dickson 7.5 - Went with a Rover's fan who was happy to have sent him back (they didn't fancy his attitude) but he was watching a different player yesterday. If could have got one he'd have probably got more.
Shelvey 6.5 - Opened B's up a couple of times by making a run off the ball and taking players away from Sam. If we can't find a left sided player this boy should play. He can do a job anywhere...he's got a football brain.
Mackenzie 6 - Feeling his way back but gave it a go. If and when he gets fit(!) he may have to be our left winger.

Parkinson 7 - Wonder if he now thinks that picking Waggie was right? But nit-picking aside, he's looking the part as a Charlton manager.

Crowd 9 - Quite a while since terrace songs have made me laugh....but one or two did yesterday. Especially "you're not fit to be a dad!" (it even made the "dad" in question laugh too!)
  • Elliot - 7 - Another competent performance.
Omozusi - 7.5 - I really like him. Defends well, wins a lot of headers & gets forward very well.
Llera - 7 - His height was important given the sheer size of the Brentford team.
    Semedo - 7.5 - Showed skill & intelligence in a difficult position.
Basey - 7 - I wish he would stop trying to take on their full backs for speed. He doesn't have it.
Sam - 7.5 - Worked so hard but all teams now double up on him. Just needs to keep going.
Spring - 7 - Seemed very tired. Not surprising in the circumstances.
    Bailey - 8 - Another captain's performance.
Wagstaff - 6 - Struggled badly & doesn't offer Basey any protection at all.
A Sodje - 6.5 - Another one who looked shattered throughout.
Dickson - 7.5 - Good, lively performance. Should have scored with the lob just before HT.
    Shelvey - 7 - Good energetic performance.

Elliot - 7 - Coped well with difficult conditions
Omozusi - 6.5 - A few good moments going forward
    Llera - 6 - Reasonably Solid
Semedo - 8 - Some great tackles and reading of the game
Basey - 5 - Once again troubled by fast winger in last quarter of game
Sam - 6.5 - A few good runs often doubled up on.
    Spring - 6 - Average.
    Bailey - 8 - Another captains performance
Wagstaff - 5 - Not in the game at all
A Sodje - 5.5 - Disapointing. Ball failed to stick with him.
    Dickson - 7 - A threat. Unlucky not to get a goal.
    Shelvey - 6.5 - Some nice touches
    McKezie - 7 - Added a bit of muscle

Crowd - 10 - Purely for the rendition of 'Goodbye Kids' to the gobby bloke to the left. Best bit of terrace wit I've heard for years.
Essex-Al - 10 - For selling me his spare ticket, much appreciated.
  • Elliot - 7 handled well given pitch conditions
Omozusi - 7 growing into the team
Llera - 7.5 commanding defender, good clearances
Semedo - 7.5 excellent work in circumstances. Very unlucky to get booked
Basey - 7 steady performance, good corner kicks, held winger well but lacked pace to get past full-back
Sam - 7.5 got better as game went on, good perseverance late on
    Spring - 7 steady work
    Bailey - 8.5 excellent display
Wagstaff - 6 rarely in the game, too lightweight for conditions
A Sodje - 5 apart from being a 'presence', contributed little
Dickson - 7.5 good performance, strong running gave them problems
Shelvey - 7 put in good shift, made up for what Waggy had lacked.
