The national team's home dress has always been a white jersey and black shorts. The colors are derived from the 19th century flag of the north German State of Prussia. The away jersey color has changed several times. Historically, green shirt with white shorts is the most often used alternative color combination, derived from the DFB colors (and the ones of a playing field),[citation needed] though it is also reported that the choice is in recognition of the fact that Ireland, whose home shirts are green, were supposedly the first nation to play Germany in a friendly game after World War II.[11] This is false, as their first match after WWII was in fact against Switzerland.[12]
Because the Republic of Ireland soccer team were the first team to play Germany after World War II when many teams refused to do so. The German football association appreciated this gesture and in honour declared they would adopt a green jersey as their away jersy as this was the colours of the Republic of Ireland....

anyone beat Chelsea for 53 points?
[cite]Posted By: MrOneLung[/cite]who played in the English top flight in the 60's,70's, 80's, and 90's
Yes, it's Chelsea. The highest in the country (including non league teams) is the wonderful Sturminster Newton United with 340 points. Luton Town do well with 154 points but probably have had 100 points deducted. The lowest is Brighton-based CCK with 17 although Faces (from Essex) do well with 34.
Anyone know the highest in the top 4 divisions - and, yes, it includes all names.
Italy were the first country to have 2 different teams reach the semi-final of the European Cup, Spain were the first country to have 3 different representatives; Who were the first country to have 4 different representatives?
