  • Mine was from memory though Len ;-)
  • I'm putting together every game Tony Currie played whilst at Sheffield United, I have all the United, England and Inter League info, but after going through all my old United programmes, I am short of some opposition line ups etc. I have been on quite a few messageboards asking for info, like I have on this one. To be honest, I have been delighted and suprised really with the friendliness and help that has been shown to me.
I cant thank you enough for this info and would like to wish you all the best for the end of season run in.
Good luck and many, many thanks
  • I remember Tony Currie taking a penalty at The Valley, about 1970.
As he ran up to strike the kick, all of us down the Covered End chanted, "Chicken Curry, Chicken Curry!".

    He missed.

But Sheff Utd still won 2-0.
  • Saturday 13th February 1971. Charlton 0 v 2 Sheffield United - TC had a penalty saved.
I might add to my records that 'Currie had penalty saved because of Oggy Red & his mates' :)
  • I can't remember which of these matches it happened in but I remember the ball going for a definite CAFC goal kick but Curry picked the ball up, ran to the flag and took a corner kick from which United scored! In another match Charlie W did one of his 'through me legs' specials. I hope John T you will mention somewhere that Bill Dearden's goal in the L.C second replay was blatantly offside: that was a long, late journey home! All the best.
