RIP Adam Stansfield

Exeter City have tonight announced the death of 31 year old striker Adam Stansfield of bowel cancer after his diagnosis in April of this year.

Puts a lot in perspective.

Far far too young, what a horrible disease to strike down a young, fit, talented bloke in his prime.

Will always remember Jeff Stelling's gag that "Lisa would be happy".

RIP.

Yeah, we often get caught up in other issues forgetting what is far more important.

    RIP Adam.
  • Awful news. Played against us at The Valley last September.

I hate the cliche, but it's a reminder there's bigger things in life and all that. I'm sure there's kids who supported those clubs who he played for who are inspired by what he did in such a short life - reading back, looks like he had a great career. We read too much of overpaid footballers but it looks like he was a real local boy done good.

I hope there's something meaningful and lasting that can be done to honour his memory. Respect.

  • We live not far from Exeter and the fans are devastated, our thoughts are with his family at this sad time R.I.P. what is a 4-3 defeat compared to this, i just hope some of these prima donna premier players dig deep to help his family out, but i doubt it.

Sad Sad news, a cracking fella, had a few nights out with him when he was at Yeovil. A man with many friends at many clubs, he will be sorely missed.
  • Must confess I'd not heard of this guy until recently , which doesn't really matter 31 is no age at all , I hope his family receives assistance of some sort , pulls you up short when you hear news like this

What tragic news. As someone mentioned above, hopefully his young family will get some help from the PFA or the FA.
