Sad news but not unexpected as his health had been in decline for a few years.

A hero to those of us of "a certain age" who grew up watching his films at the cinema and sometimes on television.

I was lucky enough to meet him when I was a boy and he was a gentleman.

    RIP Norman

My first visit to the cinema with my Dad (Granada, in Welling) was to see a Norman Wisdom film.

I won't tell you when it was, because you'll all laugh at me.

Whenever I saw him interviewed he always seemed like a genuinely warm and humble man. Can't say I thought a great deal of his films - different era I guess (I'M not as old as Oggy) but I know a lot did, so that'll do for me.

A lovely bloke who had a good innings. RIP Norman, gone to see the great Mr Grimsdale in the sky.

He came from a long line of boxers, except his mother who was a German Shepherd...
  • My wife and I saw him on the pitch before the albania/england match in tirana, did a comedy act wearing a half albanian half england shirt and the albanians adored him. Quality films, my fav was the one about the milkmen. Pitkin RIP

I remember watching and loving his films on television as a yong boy. The problem was that they got harder to watch as you got older. His character changed from being funny to annoying. Having said that he was a legend -just of his time which is no bad thing. Charlie Chaplin hardly has you in stitches but that doesn't detract from his talent.
