in my mini, i had the optional sat nav, and when i drove there when i left my house it said 220 miles to go and it counts down the time too telling you the eta all the time! it was accurate by the minute, and it would recalulate if you go faster or slower whatever! thats the only reason i know!

Tend to agree with one of the blokes in the comments, about car drivers using the green boxes as if it's there own. BTW those jumping a red include going 5 ft past the stop line to give myself a bit of space to go when the light goes green?0

Tough one. If a car goes 5ft over the stop line, and into a yellow junction box, then he's in the wrong. If that red light has a camera on it, and he goes 5 foot over, again he's in the wrong....

My point was about the Green Boxes, if someone uses up my and other cyclist safety zone, why can't I use a bit more road to stay safe?0

i would imagine there have been many injuries caused to pedestrians, quite serious ones. I for one am lucky not to have witnessed but i feel like i take my life in my hands walking around the streets around Bank and on old broad street. they tear down the roads coming up to junctions knowing they should be slowing down. On the other side there are plenty of stupid pedestrians who blindly step onto the road without looking around the big bad bus that is stationary.
The bad cyclists are ruining it for the others but the majority I see hurtling around the city make my blood boil to the point that i want to commit acts of violence. i even cheer when i see the city police jump out and nick em for going through a red light.0 -

maybe this is what the community police officers do? stand in those little boxes and pounce? :-)
i wouldn't know, i'm a law abiding cyclist! if i can't be bothered or am too scared to use the junction then i get off, and walk and push my bike.
i cycled round piccadilly circus, and trafalgar square roundabout last weekend and feared for my life.
when we got to blackfriars bridge junction we got off and crossed as i didn't fancy screaming my lungs out as i cycled the whole way round the junction like i had done earlier on!0 -
The only group who are more at risk on the road are cyclists, cycling deaths are up while for everyone else, it's down. No one bangs on about cars who jump Yellow reds, but then car drivers are the poor hard done by. Love to see the stats on how many pedestrians are killed by cyclist against cars, or how many cyclists are injuried by pedestrians walking out and not looking?

saturday afternoon so had to cope with plenty of tourists stepping out looking the other way as well as vehicles! anyway, musn't grumble. there are plenty things wrong with the world today. we should be grateful we're able to cycle, drive, walk and look the right way at a crossing :-)0 -

Ok, so we did it!
10 miles from greenwich (including the 2 miles to get to the start point from my flat) then when we arrived in thamesmead realised we had no way to get home! so cycled all the way back.
a lovely burger in GBK, and 2 lovely pints of shandy in the hill, royal hill, then a long walk through greenwich park, across blackheath common, down into the village, and on to lee. les pushed the bike as i no longer wanted to go anywhere near it my legs were aching so much.
good day tho, got a certificate off the mayor (thought he was taking part himself chain an' all but no - the swine!)
26 miles approx in total (23 cycling) and i couldn't really move last night!
going to do a 32 mile one on june 16th :-)0
