[cite]Posted By: Spankie[/cite]What were we thinking commissioning a back to Valley strip and then making the away kit blue???[div class=Attachments id=Attachments_82614][ul][div]away92.jpg[/div][/ul][/div]

Why do we even need a third kit? The home kit - red and white and an away kit black, how often are we going to play teams away that clash with both red and black? C'mon it's just a scam to milk the fans of another £40.
  • i too liked the blue woolwich kit, though can understand the anti blue brigade.
i also liked the white viglen with a red and black band around the middle, we wore that at the 5-4 wimbledon in the league cup me thinks.

The 97/98 3rd kit was the best kit ever made by any team!

[cite]Posted By: JVL[/cite]The ecru badge was weird though.

We should avoid the Millwall blue, definitely, but the royal blue that Man U had a few years ago wouldn't offend me, or possibly a Man City blue?

Do you remember teh year Coq Sportif gave Birmingham City our exact home shirt as their away kit?
joma have done the same thing with Derby`s home and our black kit the designs the same : )
  • i thought i got a sneak preview of our 3rd kit.
turn out to be london irish.

Agree - looked great that one.

What was with the 23/4 blue strips? Was that not the Catford Southend strip

Also we played in all red for a couple of seasons at the end of the sixties/early seventies.

The 95-97 green and purple makes me laugh. Away to Stoke at the Victoria Ground. A dark Wednesday evening. floodlights not the best, you couldn't see the players.

I hold true to the fact that the kit is a football kit, and should be visable to your eammate out of the corner of your eye. Imagine if a player can't see his teammate because the kit clashes with th grass!!!! The 88-89 yellow is my fav, when we should have won at Highbury.

Have to agree, the 94-96 away kit was fantastic, easily my favourite away kit (followed by last years white one and then the ecru).

Not until it's ready to launch. No point showing it to people if they can't then buy it. Not seen it myself so can't comment especially as I don't wear them anyway.

i seem to recall that the kit in 1968/69 was all red (shirts/shorts and socks)...
  • i've just had a look at andy linden's scrapboo and the team photo he shows for that season has white shorts but i'm pretty sure eddie firmani got them to wear red shorts...anybody got any links to match photos for that year ?

worse thing about the 88-89 third kit was when we had to wear it at palace right at the end of the 89-90 season and Andy Jones was busting out of it , very embarrassing.

  • Between 83 and 96 I collected 11 of the tops

and betweent 96 and 2007 my son has collected 15.

I also have the 'Back to The Valley' Leisure top, fcuking awful but I had to buy anything Charlton back in them days.

Found a catalogue the other day from 91, most of it was red, white, and blue looked like Palace gear.
