Covered End....John Sullivan used to bat about 6 and was in for his fielding (don't think he ever made a hundred). Jack Simmons, bat about 8 or 9, bowled very flat non-turning off-breaks. Both played in the same side.
  • Seen him a few times in pre-season, looks a decent keeper.

Perhaps this is the start of a blossoming partnership between the two sides. We loan you our players who need experience etc and we get first choice on your players when they move on....

Not much to gloat about though, especially if he does perform and does a good job for you!
  • Also Sparrows Lane Lion, why would you want 1st option on any of our players?
  • You must have one or two promising youngsters coming through.

On a related note to that, COULD it be possibly worth the two clubs joining forces to provide the facilities/equipment that would mean Tier 2 Academy status IF the new proposals are introduced?

We had to close down our Academy and revert back to a School of Excellence due to the cost of running vs the players we lost to Prem clubs for peanuts and no doubt you may be coming under financial pressure to keep it running.

Could be an idea providing a single facility but retain both teams youth coaches/players etc.

So you're desperate to sign Alan McCormack?

Blimey, you'll be after Simon Francis next.

We've got quite a few players ready to "move on" ..... take your pick ........ how would an ex Southend player of the year suit you????? :)

  • We need to make some changes if we are to get promoted; and question marks have been raised over both Worner and Elliott this season, so maybe a new keeper can make the difference.

As to whether this guy is the change we require though is another question....

I work along side a few Millwall fans and I can honestly say that I never thought I would see the day where we would bring in a player on from Millwall (a player on loan is one that would improve us or provide cover). Not only that, he is player who is a 3rd choice keeper that has no chance of getting in the Millwall team (that is basically what Jackett is saying).

I know he is only going to sit on the bench but for to be ridiculed about it by Millwall fans ( some of which did not know who he was!) for the last hour just shows low the club have come.

Most spanners fans wouldn't know their currant centre forward let alone their third choice keeper ; )

Really cannot see a problem with this at all, Roberts knows him, he's not getting games at Millwall at the moment- we have a keeper issue so we borrow him, big deal! I don't think Kenny Jackett was patronising at all, he merely said they need a keeper he's not on our bench so he can go there and get games if selected. He probably won't play but if he does- good luck to him. If he came from anywhere else this wouldn't be an issue.
  • John Sullivan is a sound 'keeper who got some some vital first team experience from Yeovil. You could do a lot worse. Does it matter where he's from, really? At least you're getting a decent player. I remember you loaning us Izale McLeod - we thought we were getting a very good L1 player to solve the striking crisis we were going through. What we infact got was a stroppy rude-boy with two left feet.....both of which were far too big for his boots!

I remember KJ showing an interest in McCormack a season or two ago. Whether he turned us down or Jackett decided not to persue, I don't know. I'm led to believe it was the latter, and the three games I saw of him over those two seasons he was utter toilet. So thank f**k for that.

You did loan us Christian Dailly for one game. We can thank you for that one!

can't see the problem really. Worner will remain 1st choice as long as he is doing ok and Jackett hasn't insisted Sullivan has to play. Whilst Ellioot is injured it'll keep Ross on his toes and if Sullivan has to play then we'll see what he's made of.

Was Dailly at fault for all 4 goals that day?

Jonathan Denis Sullivan, made his debut for Charlton today ....... and by all accounts put in a pretty decent performance.
    Powelly was pleased.

    Any thoughts?

PS: In 2 seasons at Millwall, he's yet to appear in a League match for them!

His shot stopping and command of his area was very good, but like many of our goalies his kicking was poor. On a one match showing better than Robbie in that his aerial ability and knowledge of when to come off his line is superior.

Blimey, Lancs ......... we haven't seen that from our keepers for many a season!!

This shows how stupid Mark Hughes was to recall Etheridge . Jacket's attitude was that his third choice was better off on our bench rather than in the stands and any game was a bonus.

Unless there are injuries then I hope Sullivan does not play again . Would Gough be ready for say the Hartlepool game ?

In the warmup before the game they were giving Gough a good work out. Whilst he looked capable of stopping the ball in the air he was very poor when shots were along the ground. Now I know it was only a a workout but it was slightly worrying.

Early days! Currently a youth, behind Elliot, Worner, Sullivan plenty of time to be assessed, developed or dumped. He has been given a contract I believe, so the club see something in him, so lets back him and not judge him on a warm up for now.

Totally agree Kap - he's still developing and needs to be encouraged and not criticised when seasoned pro's are lashing balls past him from 8 yards out unchallenged in a warm up! I was there and I saw the warm up yesterday and he didn't look bad.

Everyone knows a player's performance in games is irrelevant.

He can only be properly assessed in the warm up. FACT!

Pretty sure someone said that Sullivan's contract is up at the end of the season, but his loan here ends next week.
