Semedo, if he stays, will become our Yaya Touré. Or at least, that's what Powell will aim to do.

    That would be nice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGR0bEOQIO0

Don't really know much about him so hard to get excited but I am excited that we are set to sign players a week before June instead of a week into the season.

    3 year contract?

I'll believe it when it's on the OS ;-)

if we are aiming to sign players good enough for the Championship then we need to be handing out at least two year contracts, maybe three to the really good one's, otherwise we'll have a revolving door policy every summer.

Signing decent players instead of stop gaps or final chancers will mean at least two, if not three year deals. Especially players who are rated and may have a sell on value.

make you wonder though how Francis and McOxo got two years. Neither are rated or have a sell on value.

They probaly would'nt have left their comfort zone at Southend Large for a one year deal mores the pity!

It's funny, I was talking to one of my Shrimper mates today saying that they are amongst the worst players I've seen for Charlton.  To which he replied in all seriousness, "They are amongst our best"!

    Signing,

Sums up how far we've fallen. To be fair, I at least saw occasional momments of ability from Francis, even if there were just as many screw ups, if not more. At least he looked like he had it in him to be decent, I think an overly casual attitude on the pitch is what tended to let him down rather than a complete lack of talent. McCormack, however, never looked any good to me in any of the games I saw him play. He didn't even run around that much a lot of the time so he didn't even have a good attitude to offset the horrible lack of ability.

Sounds like he has semedos passion with different qualitys.

A team of semedos passion with different qualitys would suit me

Both this and Bolasie are good news stories if completed, both young, ambitions and signing up to the Powell way of playing, good times

Well after reading the above link from the bournemouth echo I am very pleased. He sounds like he has the defensive capabilities of Semedo, but also gets forward at times and scores a few goals.

Nearly all their fans seem sad that he's going, but wish him all the best. That sounds like a good signing if & when it's confirmed.

Quite right.  I still feel a bit stupid when I put on my 'Eddie Howe' shirt.

  • Apologies if this is anywhere else but an interesting snippet in the Bournemouth Echo. They are saying we are going to sign him today.

Their famously frantic Echo journos have announced completion on twitter as well.

On the O/S next week apparently ;-)

Less than three weeks after the season ended. You sure this is Charlton we're talking about. Brilliant news.

It isn't on the OS yet...

A good signing and weakens an opponent to boot.

if we are close to a couple more then we could be waiting to announce all of them at once, or we may have to wait until the end of his contract?

It may just be used to sugar a pill - eg Semedo goes, but Hollands joins...
