athletico charlton said " sounds good although never seen him play so hard to comment."

well fingers crossed but every shit signing we've had for the last few years people have been pulling themselves off over saying how great the signing is, when in reality most turned into utter utter junk hence our wank league positioning and shameful position as south londons poniest team

but the law of averages means one day we will make a decent signing or ten , let's hope this is the start !!

Decent signing, at this level a decent quality player and shows some intent too.

    Welcome Mr Hollands.

Wanted Hollands a few years back when he was getting rave reviews for them, people were calling him the new kinsella back then. Feels good when your club occasionally sign a player you wanted, like when we got Bent.

Clem----------non are going to be"exciting" we are playing at the 3rd level mate its  piggin awful football. However its a good standard signing at this level and a level above MacOxo. Its for 3 years as pointed out above another good sign.

Its very positive-- but exciting at this level ! how can any of em be?

it's nice to be getting 1st choice targets signing before August - the Rochdale comments obviously a red herring ;-)

Kin's is a good comparison to make in terms of the type of player he is. All over the place, not afraid to get stuck in but likes to get forward as well. If he turns out to be half a third of the player for us Kins was we'll be very happy bunnies. ALSO the last player we had with Cherries connections didn't do too bad either did he? Bloke by the name of Holland coincidentally.

I wonder if Matty Holmes put in a good word for us as he now on the coaching staff down here and would have played with Powelly?

Excellent signing - the rebuilding commences!

I clearly remember on the old Netaddicks site when Danny Mills signed we were inundated with Canaries telling us how crap he was & laughing at us - and I am sure our own fans moaning as usual. Time will tell.

I know absolutely nothing about him but what I have read by those of you that do gives me confidence we have signed a decent player. Welcome to Charlton Danny.

Asked a Bournemouth fan about him and he said :

A good combative midfielder. As good a tackler
as Paul Scholes () an sometime has a tendancie
to pass backwards or sideways instead of
looking for the killer ball that he is capable of
delivering, but a very good midfielder.
Been a good servent for this club and came in
this season when Bartley left and did a good job.
Getting him on a free is a steal as he'd be worth
a few bob if still in contract.
What I understand is that it's all to do with his
family as his missus is having triplets and he
wants to move closer to London.

Great signing. as for those that are going about him being an Einstein 'cause he went to Loughborough Uni: Er, Loughborough is primarily a sport University (the main one in England) - it's where pretty much the whole England women's football team and most of our young Olympic hopefuls study - so I think you'll find he did a degree in PE rather than Theoretical Physics or anything like that!
My old tutor studied Physics at Loughborough.

That's like saying everyone who goes to Cambridge rows boats

I went to Loughborough and didn't study sport - good Business School there aside from a whole load else

That said, it is likely he studied sport though....

Hollands is a good box-to-box midfielder, works hard, gets in tackles, gets in shots around the box. Lets hope he has the character to live up to the expectations of the punters. He'll do for starters.

On paper, a decent signing at the level i would expect us to be signing, ie. one of the better players in a rival team.

However, would have avoided like the plague. The blokes wife is about to have triplets, this poor sod is going to be like a zombie over the next year. Don't be suprised if he joins some fans in falling asleep during a game.

There are plenty of good nannies in the area and, at night, the triplets will hopefully be confined to the east wing of Danny's house in Chislehurst/Blackheath/West Malling, well away from his bedroom.
  • I'm not for one minute thinking this is a first but.......does that mean we are cherry picking our new players?

AFKA obviously made the fatal mistake of being home too much.

Left my missus to deal with my twins, found 70 hour weeks at work helped financially and with my sanity.

Hopefully danny will take my approach and throw himself into getting CAFC back up the league.

Good job we got him early then. Now got a month before pre-season starts to either sell his house, buy another or move and rent and rent out his house. Time to sort out things like nannies etc too. Also, when they arrive and assuming he moves up to Kent somewhere, his family are in Surrey whilst his fiancee's family are in East Sussex, so plenty of help available there. Also don't forget he's got Chris Parkes to do a lot of the legwork for him.
