Are williams and Anderson the two on trial? Where do they come from and are they likely to sign? Williams looked better than Benson on the day! Did anyone else think that Benni looked too thin?

Sam Williams - Striker released by Yeovil after 6 goals in 70 games according to wikipedia, played for us at youth level

Niklas Andersen - Left back at Werder Bremen

There may be the odd game where we play 4-5-1 for tactical reasons but I can't see it being plan A at the moment. We an out an out lack left winger and none of our strikers are suited to being a lone striker - Benson's too lightweight and a bit too slow, BWP is too lazy outside the box and not strong enough in the air and Hayes' natural game is to drop deep, not lead the line. To me, that only player a 4-5-1 might suit would be Waggy as he could potentially sit in behind the target man and concentrat on taking up good positions in the box which seems to come more naturally to him than delivering quality crosses.

If we want to play 4-5-1 we'll at the very least need a powerful and mobile target man, imo, and would probably have to leave BWP out and I can't see us doing that.

Now I realise what the fuss was all about over Danny Green.................the boy looked class. Not only did he want to shoot when in sight of goal (he must have had 5 or 6 shots before his screamer went in) but his crossing was sumblime & I can see now how Benno get so many goals playing for D&G - he crossed early & from deep.

Also Bover impressed in the first half although he looks a bit lightweight and Solly has competition for the RB berth with young Warren looking so assured there. Also liked the Germen guy and the defence looks well solid too..

can't wait for the start of the saeson.................COYR

    Cheers for the video wellingfan.

Lovely strike by Green. If he can produce that reasonably regularly it'll be a useful weapon. Tight games can often be settled by a goal from long range and we seemed to concede lots and score few over the last 2 or 3 years. Think back to Curbs' succcessful promotion sides and we had Kins/Morts/Robbo/Newts who were all more than capable of crashing one home from outside the box. Hopefully Hollands and Stephens have it their locker too.

What Golfie said above. Couldn't help being impressed with Danny Green and the way he whipped those crosses in early. Very optimistic about the new season.

    Thanks for posting the highlights.

Early days but I'm impressed with how they were looking to keep the ball on the deck and pass it around.

I knew you would all love Danny Green, best signing for many a year. League One's David Beckham!

I'm surprised no one has mentined his throw, massive, another handy weapon in his armoury.

Strangely enough, one of the guys that impressed us most was the number 28. Didn't have a clue who he was, we were betting he was Scandinavian!

Thought he had a good first touch, made space for himself well and very clinically scored his goal. Was stunned to find out today that he is a Yeovil reject with a poor scoring record. Hope Powell takes another look at him.

Not got this excited about seeing Charlton v Welling for some years , 1st half as other have mentioned was pretty pants (well not even pretty pants) 2nd half big improvement, Morrison & Taylor , look like they could be just what the Doc ordered (no pun intended) can't wait to see them paired together , Danny Green , wow , if you've not a season ticket yet ,  then get one , 'that goal ' was worth the admission money alone , also not seen a Charlton player cross a ball like that for years, good day out , got soaked by the rain, glad it stopped , kids got loads of autographs at the end of the game , and even saw Sebby Lweis doing the worm, does it get any better than this?

biggest surprise of the day for me was Ruben Bover Izquierdo thought he was brilliant, great feet, picked some quality passes, think his only down side was he semed to roam from his position too much leaving us a little exposed
