1 Rob Elliot   -   Lost a lot of weight. Should have lost us a goal as well but Welling player didn't finish. Kicking poor. 5
2 Freddie Warren  - Very impressed, had an excellent half 8
3 Rhoys Wiggins  -  Looks classy & skifull, sort of Ashley Cole build. Promising 6
4 Johnnie Jackson - Quiet half - not surprising after coming back from injury 6
5 Yado Mambo  - Commanding in the air, not so confident on the deck  6
    6 Matt Taylor -  Looked promising  6
7 Scott Wagstaff - Very sorry to say but poor.Had a shot about 10 yards wide & crosses went to the terrace or hit 1st man or never got a cross in  5
8 Dale Stephens - Most things went through him, wanted the ball , looked to be taking it easy 6
9 Paul Hayes -  Poor touch generally, didn't impress , but only played about 6 times last season, so like Jackson has catching up to do  5
10 Tosan Popo - Very quiet, probably not ready  5
11 Ruben Bover -  Decent touch, but lightweight (as you would expect, in a proper game he would possibly be outfought) 6

    12(?) Chris Solly - Decent game  6
13(?) John Sullivan - Little to do, but I would definitely start with him 6
    14 Paul Benson - Reasonably quiet 5.5
15 Michael Morrison - Big & strong, extremely promising & scored as well 7.5
16 Gary Doherty  - Competent but little to do  6
17 Ben Davisson - Decent game, once again lightweight as you would expect 6
18(?) Danny Green - Outstanding , he can cross, nice touch on the ball , he wants the ball & excellent goal  . MOM by a mile  8.5
    23 Bradley Pritchard  - Decent 1st game 6
27 Niklas Andersen - Not a lot to do, but looked promising 6
28 Sam Williams - Did nothing wrong ,not sure, took the goal well 6
29 Danny Hollands - looks good, prob defensive mid, as good as Semedo, but can also pass the ball forward & free kick made 2nd goal  6.5

I'm very hopeful after that performance. Definite top 6 for me. Hopefully top 2.

Bit early to say that for me after one friendly performance but I admire the optimism, better to have the glass half full as they say

So does anyone know if Freddy Warren was played at right back with a view to changing his position? Ive seen him play CM before and he didn't look half the player he did yesterday.

Probably just filling in, but the type of player Warren is I can imagine he could play there if needed.  I remember Racon coming on at right back a few years ago against Welling.

I agree with Scoham. I should imagine the plan was Francis to play 1st half & Solly to play 2nd half.

Francis I presume, was negotiating with Bournemouth after we agreed a fee & told him he wasn't part of our 1st team plan for the new season.

Scoham, you seem to have a balanced informed view on our players, do you not think he looked more suited to that position?

Crikey.Just watched the vid. Which particular shade of Brown is Benson these days?

I thought Jibes of the' new Leaburn' were cruel last season, but he doesn't do himself any favours that boy, does he!

Reckon Benno could be in for a good season....unless the booing morons target him as scapegoat after Francis and McCormack leave.

Yes he was the dark brown guy up front 2nd half, who put in Williams for the 1st goal   :-)

Only seen him a few times but I agree he could be. I think he'll find it very hard to break through in central midfield.

Even if we don't sign a new right back he'll still have a lot of competition at right back with Solly and Cousins.

the highlights looked good, dodgy first half...

    Second half looked very good..

17 was terrific little player if thats davisson then I think hes ready to make a point this year, he ran it in the centre...

Great goal from Grean and also a very tidy finish from the other fella for our first..

    Overall good run out...

    Pleased

A match of two halves as someone famously said. In the first half I thought Welling moved the ball around better, but I was particularly impressed by Freddie Warren who had a terrific half. His tackling was fierce but fair and he showed a great confidence in his play. He is going to to offer excellent competition to Chris Solly who had a solid game in the second half. A real revelation for me was Reuben Bover who brought back fond memories of the days when we had Claus Jensen, Danny Murphy and Andy Reid as midfield hubs. The lad wanted the ball, was prepared to fight to get it, and once in posession knew what he was looking to do with the ball. My only worry would be the League One cloggers getting at him. Well done for Yado Mambo showing a good strong improvement, and to Paul Hayes who used the channels well and showed good speed.

In the second half we dominated all the way, and Danny Green is obviously going to give defences a torrid time. I liked the way in which Sullivan is vocal behind the defence, and Morrison looks to be exactly what we have been looking for. Overall I think we have the makings of a side well capable of challenging at the top, so if you are hesitating over renewing your ticket JUST DO IT.

I couldn't make this game but am taking all comments with a pinch of salt. Remember, us Charlton fans over analyse each game we see. Remember how good Spector looked against Welling? McCormack for the first few games last season?

Large didn't rate Mccormack at Welling last season.

Large is always right (because he tells us he is).

The numbers in the video are wrong, it has wagstaff at 6 and he was 7, jackson was 4 not 9, popo was 10 not 117

Indeed, incredibly  poor  tannoy so along with most people i couldnt hear anything, and just took the line ups in order on Charlton site, would be good if Charlton site put numbers and first names to be fair. Surely they would know them.

    Yeah?
Not sure if this was a joke at the unknown of all the players, which is very true, but for the person who askedl anderson and davisson were second half - this is the first half squad, bovers not in the picture nor is stephens...the list is as i put two posts up.

    Yes, a joke. Ha...
I was at the game and I can't even get it right. I'm going to get studying once the numbers are assigned.
