Good luck to him, hope he gets a decent run there and they get the success they deserve. Who'd have thought they were a Prem club once upon a time!
Wonder how many people are saying that about us?

Wish him the best. Had a 5 min chat with him a couple of seasons back. What struck me most about him was how sincere he seemed, lacking any arrogance. A grounded, humble man. Deserves better than he's had. Good luck Phil.
  • Is tohis the man whi had CAFC playing some of the poorest football evr seen at the Valley?

wrongfully sacked and wrongfully given the job in the first place but the situations we were in at the time led to both being the easy options imo

    nice bloke good luck

    Echo others sentiments.

Lovely bloke, always had time for the fans, worked his socks off for the Club and deserves some success.

Although we did play some dire football during his reign, he did the best he could in very difficult (financial) circumstances.

The loan signing of Borrowdale showed his commitment to the cause.....I truly believe he actually gave a damn about CAFC, when the majority of the players didn't.......I wish him well - hope he gets the Bantams job.

Two seasons ago Parky was very close to winning automatic promotion with us, the only team in the top 6 or so that didn't have a goalscoring striker.

Apparently that wasn't good enough and he should have definitely won promotion with that squad.

This season most are saying how poor Semedo and Racon were as individuals and as a partnership.

How did such a supposed poor manager almost win promotion with a poor central midfield and no regular goalscorer up front?
My thoughts exactly. Before anyone says that he had Bailey I would immediatley counteract that he was as overrated as Semedo and Racon were, and I think his 'accomplishments' since his departure prove that.

Parkinson is an excellent manager for this level. If it wasn't for my doubts over his abilty in higher leagues I would have liked to have seen him given the backing that Powell has been given.

    - come on now, that goal against Brentford 2 seasons ago at The Valley was pure footballing gold.
  • been done to death

Wasn't that Chris Powell? When he had to make do with the same players he steered us down to 14th. He may have tried to get us playing nicer football but the stats demand some thought.

Good bloke. Principled and more astute than people gave him credit for, or circumstances allowed him to show. Got to hope it works out for him.

it'd be a good club for him.

    good luck nice bloke
  • Didnt rate him as a Charlton manager but top bloke and good luck to him. Would like to see Bradford do well as they must have a proper fan base living in the shadows of all the other Yorkshire clubs and would be great to see Parkinson do well there.

not the only one but for some reason I'm the easy target. Oh well.

Maybe you are only an easy target because you are a LargeAddick?

    good luck parky!
  • Sounds like he's got the job.

The warmest wishes to the guy. He's a trier and although I hated the football his team played, I always admired his dogged attitude.

But it seems about right. doesn't it? PP preparing for Morecombe and Crawley (both in the top three of div four, I see!), while CP eyes up our return to the championship.

Nothing would please me more than to see the two Ps both managing teams in higher divisions next season.

And hopefully the other P, whose number two Parkinson once was, out on his arrogant arse.

  • Nice words incorruptible shame one half of the brothers grim had to have a dig, pathetic

Without a doubt the best manager we had since Curbs. Parky gave it his all for us, he loved the club and did everything in his power to do well in such difficult financial circumstances. Although the football played wasn't the greatest, it got results and the stats proved that.

We were the only team 2 seasons ago who was in the top 6 throughout the season and didn't go up, the other team was Leeds. That season we missed out on promotion by 3 points and we didn't have a 20 goal a season striker. He done exceptionally well for us.

I wish him all the best at Bradford, he is a top man, and I hope that both Bradford and Charlton are in higher divisions next season.

Thanks Southend, much appreciated. As said two others also had a sly dig at Parky in their comments yet I'm the only one who gets pulled up for it. Oh well.

The 43-year-old is regarded as one of the best young coaches around having guided Colchester to promotion to the Championship during his time in charge of the club.

& then came Hull who he took to the bottom of Championship & then Charlton who he took to relegation & then with a team of championship players failed to get us promoted.

Wrongly sacked ? you're having a laugh he should of been sacked after his 8 game trial period

    - To be fair, that team of 'championship players' did finish bottom of the championship, by quite a long way.

FFS why does this have to be re hash, some people on here wanted to say some positive things about Parky's impending appointment but again the thread is hijacked and it becomes anther argumentive thread.  Large why do you need to have a sly dig, even if others do, I thought you were better than that.

Stu / Charlton Bob - why when we are doing so well on the field under Powell do you even want to get involved in this thread?

Parkie was great / Parkie was crap - why is it relevant to Parkie dislikers now?

So you can have an opinion but those who disagree can't? You think he deserves the job this thread is about, others don't. Can't see the problem myself. One could ask with the team doing so well why do people want to get involved whatever their view but that's what DISCUSSION forums are for.

I also probably wouldnt have commented at all had people not started digging out Large for doing nothing but expressing his opinion
