Our Tracey really does seem the be the beating heart of our wonderful club. Everyone loves her.
As her son, whilst being quietly proud of her, I can imagine Miles going "Mum your embarrassing!" which basically is the key role of  a parent

Josh Edwards is a great character and has embraced Charlton from the start despite the late tackle from Clare which put him out for a while.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLJMFBYW4g0 - loved him from the moment I watched this video in pre season
Same. As soon as I saw this video I really warmed to Josh. His personality comes through be he is infectious. He is the kind of personality that I love to have as a work colleague and bounce off. I am sure that he has been crucial to the squad in developing cohesion and a band of brothers mentality.

Hope he stays at Charlton, as he is a huge piece in the jigsaw. He's up there for me, as a player that I enjoy watching and he looks like he's loving being at the club.
  • I am sure someone else must have pointed this out. But just in case... What a part centre halves have played in all our play off victories!

    Rufus

    Take a bow chaps.
Great point. And it’s not just goalscorers really.

Steve Brown for ‘that’ tackle in 98. Naby Sarr’s own goal in ‘19…

And Purrington (left back rather than CH) scored in 2019. Is Clive Mendonca the only non-defender to have scored in any of our four finals?

If you count the 1st leg of the play off v Leeds then no as Jim Melrose scored

Jim Melrose scored late in the first leg of the playoffs against Leeds.

I think "ANY OF OUR FOUR FINALS" is the most important part 😉
  • Many footballers are young lads and having Tracey around must be great for them.

    Thanks for highlighting that.
Rufus was right on the money ! with that headed equaliser when the Keeper didn't stay on his line.
BFG with the late, late winner.
PS with a late brace against Leeds.
Macca with a beautiful free kick.

    Fantastic Centre back memories 👏🏼

And you are totally failing to realise that the home game v Leeds was THE FIRST LEG OF THE FINAL.

Great assist from Bright with the Rufus goal sorting out Lionel…😉

A mum away from home is what I've heard one of the players say. Not even a younger one.

  • Come on Neil.. bit much that one.

Enjoyed that behind the scenes video.
  • Oh my, oh my !!

Tonight this video has reduced me to tears ..of joy & pride & everything I love about this remarkable group of players that have given their all for our beloved football club....and for us, the faithful.

Watching Nathan & listening to his post match talk ; watching the faces of those lads hanging on his every word ; watching the moment when that serious mood erupted into utter excitement & they could "let it all out" ! Such a picture that will stay in my old 'ead for a looong time.

THIS is family....and I don't believe I've ever felt so close to a squad as I have tonight. It's very difficult to find the words to express what I mean & that's unusual in itself.

I looked at the faces of the mainstays this season - Josh, Luke, Matty, Lloyd, Doc, Macca, Conor et al and thought that I can hardly wait to see them again. Then , the faces of the those we won't see in the red shirt again - Chuks, Tennai, Alex and thought how sad it will be to lose them. And finally, the faces of those yet to make their mark - Kai, Kaheim, Daniel ...and thought that they have so much to look forward to. But they will always be part of the Charlton family.

I haven't posted anything until now since last Sunday's finale to the season. For reasons I can't quite fathom, I've felt somewhat "low" since that memorable day. Perhaps anti climax is the word I'm looking for ; perhaps I wished that we had stayed after the celebrations on the pitch & regretted not joining those in the Boxpark afterwards but sadly, age & the journey home ahead  put paid to that ....who knows. Fanny is a complicated soul !

But, as I was about to log off for the night, I decided to check out this latest video and I can't begin to explain how glad I am that I did. THIS is what I have needed for the past 6 days. My equilibrium has been restored by those scenes of pure joy that I hadn't revisited and my heart is bursting with pride & we, love for this club and all who "sail in her" !

OMG, as I finish this silly little contribution, what comes onto Gold Radio...

" The sun always shines in my Rainbow Valley ". Thank you, Love Affair.

    Gulp !
