Nathan Jones almost played for Bristol City as a youth but picked Cardiff instead, might be some unfinished business there from when he was a teenager.
Make of that what you will.
He also nearly signed for us a player around 95 but was already in the process of signing for a Spanish club. Found that out listening to a podcast from 2020:
Be interesting to see the first full season of Norwich under the Milwaukee Brewers ownership. Manning seems a solid appointment but I would expect them to sell Borja Sainz and potentially Josh Sargent.
Bristol City don't really seem to have a set style with their managerial appointments. Last 4 have been Lee Johnson ,Dean Holden, Nigel Pearson and Liam Manning. Would probably throw Des Buckingham's name in the mix there unless they're going to pay compo for Richie Wellens.
Cardiff promised their fans a new manager and wanted a high profile manager such as Buckingham or the old Bolton manager but neither want to work for tan.
Cardiff have made up the jones rumour through a local journalist. They will appoint their youth coach or an unknown and say “we tried to get jones but Charlton wouldn’t let him join”.
I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not. Des Buckingham, high profile??

Manager didn’t sign for a club as a player so has unfinished business? If he didn’t sign surely the business didn’t start 🤔

Just the mention of it just brings back memories of belting this out, walking across Waterloo bridge (and usually a lot further until we could get a mini cab or hitch a ride home after coming out of the Lyceum when it closed around 2am in the 1970s - a Jerry Lee Lewis song that Rod Stewart covered at the time

Braziliance meltdown 2.0 incoming.
I've actually just requested for termination. It's been a good decade, but the timing is right.
Spent a good ten years here, now it's time to challenge myself elsewhere.
I’d be surprised if he went. The lure of Mansfield, Lincoln and the like vs the games in Championship doesn’t seem compelling, even as a fan. He has said the board are supportive, the fans are behind him, so why do that when he could always consider at a different time when further along with us?
If he does go that would probably sound alarm bells with the backing being given.
Playing devil’s advocate… Jones wasn’t happy with how quickly a significant amount of fans turned on him, before even half the season was out. In fact, he seemed fuming. So he may think that if things start to look sticky again, he’ll be turned on again.
on that basis, no wonder he turned millwall down then and went to us despite being in a division lower - won't be surprised if he takes an assistants role at footscray lions girls under 9's
Having spent a lot of time at both The Valley and The Den, I actually think Millwall fans are more patient. They are certainly less entitled. I think that is what upset Jones. Charlton have spent the majority of the 21st Century playing League One football, & finished in its lowest position since having to apply for reelection in 1926. Yet despite not being out of touch of the play-offs, fans turned on him. Despite him having to rebuild squad & the whole club after a decade or more of neglect.
I think the difference is, when Millwall fans turn on you, they really turn on you. And they also tend to turn on the players more often than the manager. I think that is because they think players should give their all, no matter who the manager is or how bad he is.
@Henry Irving is this okay with you, sir? As I replied to a direct post. Doff my cap etc etc
In the 25 years since the millennium, Charlton have spent seven years in the PL, seven in the Championship, 11 in League One. So not a majority of the 21 century at all.
I can’t be bothered to work out average league position for Charlton and Millwall but my guess is that over your chosen time frame there’s not much in it.
I said Charlton have spent the majority of it playing League One football. Sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant that the division Charlton have spent the most time playing in, out of the four divisions (in the 21st century), is League One.
So from Jones’ pov, it probably did seem a bit extreme how quickly fans turned on him. Especially if you look at how Charlton have performed since 2009 (that’s 16 years!!). He came in after the club had finished in its lowest position since 1926. And with the club having a reputation for being a bit of a long running basket-case club to outsiders. To get absolute pelters in the middle of the huge task of turning the club around must have seemed crazy to him.
Never say 'we' or 'us' always say 'Charlton' or 'the Club'. Wonder why.
Wonder away.
Thing is, I haven't posted a single trolling or wind up post. Not one. When I used to lurk on here, I thought it was a bit bonkers, but in a good way. But my god, there are more serious & pompous middle-aged men in here than in a London to Brighton cycle race. Poor old Brazilliance is having a breakdown because of some of you & I’d argue that the man-boy DOUCHER is more of a bloody troll & WUM than anyone on this site. By far.
Look, it is a great forum. I like AFKA, so out of respect I am not gonna reply to personal messages anymore. And if he thinks I am trolling, then I will shut up & leave. But I genuinely do not think I am. Just chatted stats, history titbits & given an honest opinion.
Mate, just stop posting incessantly about you know who, that is all.
he is obsessed with me but i think its the constant **LL**LL one's that annoy most people

Let’s close this till the next rumour about him emerges.
