Did the free speech thread get shut down?
  • Prodigy. Wow wow wow
  • Watched a fair bit on Friday. Quite liked English Teacher (never heard of them), Wet Leg were brilliant, Supergrass, Blossoms and Biffy great too. 1975 were boring as fuck though. How long did it take the lead singer to drink that pint of "Guinness" too ffs?! Missed Saturday as i was out with my boy all day and only caught the prodigy last night, who absolutely nailed it! Wish they'd done a few older songs, but it looked and sounded amazing. Going to try and watch some stuff on iplayer. Particularly osees, but loads of other recommendations on this thread that I'll have a look at too. Jealous of those who were there.

I thought Rid Stewart was going to be live on the Beeb ?

Currently on BBC2 they have some woman playing.....

    Edit.

Ok. Found it on the red button. Very confusing. Why highlight him as one of the main events but then not show him live from the start of his set.

A but like having the FA Cup on the red button but on the main channel having an U21's game.

    Do you ever not moan?
  • I love that Firestarter has become a tribute to Keith and Maxim stands silent for it
When Keith died, I thought The Prodigy would be over. People I know have suggested that they're better than ever. Any truth in this?

Enjoyed Olivia Rodrigo last night - thought she was a class act.

Only recognised one of her songs but still enjoyed it. Refreshing after all the bile broadcast on Saturday.

Not Glastonbury but I saw Simple Minds at Lincoln Castle last night. Excellent performance, tight band and old Jim's voice is strong. It's a superb venue with a long list of summer concerts by all types.
Supported by China Crisis to reinforce the 80s feel.

Great. More Minds fans on here than I'd thought. The recent film about them "Everything is Possible" is well worth a watch, better than I expected. There's something very touching about Jim and Charlie's story, they first me as 8 year old kids in the Gorbals. I'm not aware of any other such a long "mates" partnership at the top end of the rock world.

They've never done Glastonbury though, have they?

  • Prodigy set looked the nuts - pity about smoke flare wankers stopping anyonebehind them from seeing the band though.

Olivia Rodrygo was good - would never of had her down as a headliner at Glasto though

Looked up some of the Neil Young songs as I said I had never heard of any of them - only Heart of Gold rang a bell for me

Watched first 3 songs of Wet Leg after recommendations on here. Found the songs a bit meh but she seemed a good front(wo)man for the band.

Never heard of her until last night. Her music was pretty good and she plays multiple instruments and sings well. Also, she’s serious eye candy - bloody hell.

Just the set list you'd want, I think. Me and Mrs Idle both guessed Waterfront to be the opener, honours even.

Yes - and deleted. Not sure exactly why though, it was simmering as I went to bed and when I woke up it was gone! Shame because it was a reasonably well-mannered discussion with all sides airing their views.
Someone's using that lyric in the next Glasto...
I am now to compose a tune in my head for it ..but more apt as a line from breaking bad

Did I miss something? I thought it was two bands who overstepped the mark?

I'd say they are ok without him, but not as good.
    Like Kasabian without Tom.
  • NB Rod Stewart said he had flu the week before and didn't think he'd be able to play.
So even more so fair play to him.

The music was great. Lots of energy. Really enjoyed the set.

  • The BBC didn't show the final performance of The Searchers anywhere yet those bands launching political protests got a full airing.

That said they did show Rod Stewart which was a pleasant surprise.
  • Alanis and The Prodigy. The 90s were the best decade for music.

Actually BBC didn't air Kneecap's set. Only Bob Vylan.

Rod Stewart wasn't protesting politically either, technically speaking...

    Ooo controversial..

Though for me Pulp (who were mainly a 90s band) were the highlight for me that I saw.

Man, watching the Ezra Collective set. So joyous. Can't believe I've had the privilege of jamming with some of those guys, just before they properly broke out.
I didn't watch much of Glastonbury, but did see Ezra Collective. I've never heard of them, but thought they were great.

They were my next highlight. The music, energy and feeling was brilliant.
Envious of you having played alongside them.

I was expecting someone to mention Gary Numan but agree that the 90s were the best.

Shame my favourite singers from that decade are mostly dead now although Eddie Vender is oohhh I ooohhh is still alive.
