I've heard from 2 different people he's injured. I don't know how true that is, but based on pre-season that seems likely.

It's a shame as otherwise our transfer business has been fantastic

I think that's been established, unless he fancied Ibiza since the 12th June  ;)

Jones, asked about the defender’s spells on the sidelines, told South London Sport: Charlton Athletic Edition: “Well, he didn't have those injury problems for me.

“What I’m saying is that for me, in my environment, he played games. Now I don’t know about other environments, but what I’ve done is back our environment to get games out of him.

Would imagine he’s got some niggles and issues if he was rushed back a lot last year that’s hampered his start here, I’d imagine we as a club are being over cautious as it’s the only way to break the cycle he’s in

    Or

hes a total crock and waste of money and time

    no inbetween :)

I think it will be a little niggle. I also think Jones is managing the older players and those that have a bit of a record. Same with Godden, Berry and Leaburn.. they won’t be rushed.
  • That's 4 weeks out now, so he'll be far behind the rest. Big shame as we know the story when this happens early in a players career at a new club.

Anyone heard anything on him? He is a class option when fit.

    A tad.
Do you mind waiting until Xmas before calling him Corey or Gibbo if no sign of him.

If you've bought faulty goods, you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, primarily to a refund, repair, or replacement. You have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days for a full refund. After 30 days, you can still request a repair or replacement, and if those aren't possible, a refund.

    Worth a try.

I know you are looking for something to moan about and some of it might be tongue in cheek, but he has missed 1 game so far (no one has started both games). We havent missed him so why not cut him a bit of slack?

We knew his injury record before he signed so disappointed he's missed pre season which was so important to build up his fitness. Will have a lot of catching up to do

They'll be a Chuks shaped indentation on the Sparrows Lane treatment bench for Reece. Would hate him to be our next sicknote.

Anyway, let's hope he is worth a wait.

Roles for mates... Suspect he'll be first choice at RCB when he's fit, with Ramsey having to settle for a place on the bench at best

At least its what my source from Sparrows Lane has hinted at.

Charlton Athletic boss wants defensive additions before transfer window closes

Reece Burke is back in training but the summer addition from Luton Town has not featured since the opening game in pre-season at Dartford.

“He is involved now, in terms of everything, but I didn’t want to risk him tonight playing 90 minutes or a load of minutes because, again, if anything happens then we are exposed,” said Jones.

The problem is Burke had a terrible injury record before joining us and has not managed more than 45 minutes since joining because of another injury. I wouldn't hold out a massive amount of hope on him going through the rest of the season unscathed.

In a way I think that's one reason we signed him over a different CB - we need depth so missing Ramsay or Jones isn't a big problem, but not someone so good who expects to play every game, as they're two of our best players.

Be good if he could play one game though

Worrying that Burke couldn’t manage any minutes against Cambridge as, in the absence of a pre-season, he’ll need game time to get up to speed. How is he going to get it ? Presumably as an over-age player in the Under 21s, which is poor preparation for treading the boards in the Championship.

It means NJ was concerned he’d break down and not be available for the weekend and so one of tonight’s players would need to come on in the Championship. That in itself is a massive issue
